There’s nothing quite as agonizing for TV fans as being stuck in renewal limbo. You binge a new Netflix show in a weekend, fall hopelessly in love with the story, the characters, the world, and then… silence. Weeks turn into months, and still, there’s no word on the show's future.
No renewal. No cancellation. Just an endless waiting game that tests your patience and your faith in the streaming gods. You start refreshing social media for any hint of news, you check cast interviews for cryptic clues, and you cling to the faintest rumor that maybe, just maybe, your favorite series will get another shot.
Many fans are currently living that nightmare with a new Netflix show that was released this past summer. Time is ticking, and still, there’s no word on whether it will be renewed or left to fade into the ever-growing graveyard of one-season wonders.
Netflix has yet to announce whether there will be a Too Much season 2

Unfortunately, this is true. The first season of Too Much premiered on Netflix back in July 2025, and the streaming giant has remained eerily silent about its future ever since. It'll be exactly four months since the first season's release on Nov. 10, 2025. While it's not unheard of for Netflix to take its time evaluating a show's performance before making a decision on its fate, the silence is still frustrating for fans who have already fallen in love with Jessica, Felix, and the show's uniquely messy, heartfelt story.
Additionally, this year alone, we have seen the streaming giant issue numerous early renewals for shows or give the green light for another season just a month or so after a series came out. So, what's going on with Too Much? Why didn't it follow this pattern of quick renewals? Well, it likely had to do with the show’s underwhelming performance in its opening week and how it only continued to struggle in the weeks that followed.
Too Much struggled to make a splash in Netflix’s global top 10 charts, earning less than 2 million views in its debut week and only reaching the top 10 in eight countries. While it did reach the global Netflix top 10 TV shows chart in its second week, the rom-com only claimed the No. 10 spot, barely making the cut. It would not appear again on the charts going forward. That wasn't good at all.
As the days go by without a renewal announcement, it's becoming more and more clear that Netflix is hesitant to commit to a second season. As much as we hate to say it, our guess is that the streaming giant is leaning more towards cancellation. Though we would like to be proven wrong because Too Much is a pretty solid rom-com, the numbers simply haven’t backed up its creative strengths. And we all know how important viewership metrics are for Netflix when deciding a show’s fate.
Lena Dunham and Luis Felber created Too Much. The plot centers around Jessica, a thirty-something New Yorker grappling with a painful breakup who seeks a fresh start by relocating to London. Once there, she crosses paths with Felix, an indie musician carrying his own emotional baggage. Sparks start to fly, and the two eventually find themselves falling for each other. Megan Stalter stars as Jessica, while Will Sharpe plays Felix.
