It's finally time for our annual check-in with Joanne and Noah as Nobody Wants This as the Netflix original romantic comedy series returns for season 3. The new episodes arrive on Oct. 22 and pick up after the latest batch of highs and lows the central couple have experienced throughout the first two seasons, which revolves around the question of whether Joanne will convert.

But Kristen Bell and Adam Brody's characters aren't the only ones going through challenging relationship struggles. Nobody Wants This threw Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Esther (Jackie Tohn) an unexpected hurtle to cross at the end of the second season that will shape much of season 3, and the same could be said for Morgan (Justine Lupe) following her own brave decision.

Before diving into Nobody Wants This season 3 and binge-watching every episode as soon as they are available on Netflix, let's circle back and reflect on where we left off in season 2. If you need a refresher without rewatching the previous season, we're sharing the three biggest things you have to remember about the show before catching back up with Joanne and Noah!

Joanne and Noah are committed and moving in together

The first season ended with Joanne and Noah seemingly splitting up under the weight of the pressures their relationship faced, and the second season ended in a similar manner. Luckily, both times, they didn't actually break up and realized that they wanted to keep fighting for their relationship. Going into season 3, they are on stabler ground than ever.

As the Nobody Wants This season 3 trailer revealed, Joanne and Noah are taking the next step and moving in together. It's the biggest statement on their commitment to each other in place of Joanne's conversion or getting married. Thankfully, the trailer shows the couple reveling in the happiness of cohabitating and pushing aside any continued pressure from their families.

However, they likely won't be able to run from questions about their future for much longer. The trailer also teased that Joanne and Noah will soon feel the heat regarding marriage. After taking the big step to live under the same roof, it's understandable that the next step after that would be on their minds, but we'll have to see what's on their agenda for building a life together.

Esther and Sasha are separated, and Morgan is single

As one couple continues to take conscious steps to start their lives as partners, another couple dives into the unknown future of separation. In the season 2 finale, Esther made the decision to separate from Sasha after the long-time married couple weathered some ups and downs in their marriage. Sasha doesn't want to end their marriage, but Esther is embarking on a new journey.

Conveniently, another main character also found herself becoming single in the season 2 finale. Even though she was planning to get married, Morgan decided at her engagement party that she did actually want to marry Dr. Andy. She realized that she wasn't marrying him because either of them were right for each other and wisely ended things before they got too far.

Since the first season, Sasha and Morgan have had a connection that fans have picked up on. For the first time, they are both single and that will give Nobody Wants This a chance to address their chemistry once and for all. But there's much more to explore for Esther and Morgan beyond Sasha, as each will take on new beginnings that could inform where they land romantically.

Joanne officially decided to convert to Judaism

The big question hanging over Joanne's head for the first two seasons was answered in the season 2 finale. Esther, of all people, helped Joanne realize that she was overthinking her conversion to Judaism and had already become Jewish, though informally. The inspiring talk was the push Joanne needed to officially decide to pursue conversion, which will happen in season 3.

Nobody Wants This welcomes Sarah Silverman and Andrew Rannells as two new characters Joanne encounters in her conversion classes, with Silverman playing Rabbi Eden and Rannells playing a fellowing student Sebastian. There's no doubt that Joanne's time in her conversion classes will provide plenty of opportunity for hilarious moments and character development.

Now that Joanne has decided to take the leap and convert, further stabilizing her future with Noah, the series will be bypassing two major story elements that have been driving the narrative since the beginning. It's exciting to see Joanne and Noah achieve this progression, but it's also exciting that the series will be heading into uncharted territory moving forward.
