Netflix dropped the newest season of The Night Agent, and the latest episodes definitely gave us everything we're looking from the spy thriller. Peter Sutherland takes on a dangerous new mission, makes new friends and enemies, and cheats death more times than we can count on one hand. But The Night Agent season 3 didn't give us everything — or everyone — that we wanted.
Unfortunately, Luciane Buchanan doesn't appear in The Night Agent season 3 as Rose Larkin, Peter's girlfriend (well, ex-girlfriend now) and frequent investigative partner. Rose's absence from season 3 was confirmed ahead of time by Buchanan as a creative decision by creator Shawn Ryan, but just because Rose was missing in action this time, doesn't mean she can't be back in action for season 4.
Warning: Spoilers ahead from The Night Agent season 3.

Rose could still return in The Night Agent season 4
While Buchanan previously mentioned that she would be open to reprising her role as Rose in future seasons of The Night Agent, the actress isn't contracted to return, which means it would be contingent on Ryan crafting a worthy story to bring Rose back and Buchanan signing back on. Currently, there aren't immediate plans, but it's clear to see how she could be part of season 4.
The Night Agent season 4 hasn't been officially renewed by Netflix, but the writers have already gotten to work in the writer's room. It's also been confirmed that the next season would be set in Los Angeles, which is obviously much closer to Rose's home in the Bay area than New York City. Just based on proximity, it's possible for Rose to make her highly anticipated comeback.
Unlike the season 2 finale, The Night Agent season 3 finale didn't explicitly tease what Peter's next mission would entail or even make any mention of him heading to Los Angeles. In fact, he's set to take a much-needed break after taking on as many as five mission in a little as a year. Mosley did, however, tease that he has a new partner lined up for Peter, but he wouldn't reveal their identity.
Naturally, that leads to overthinking the possibility that Rose could have been recruited for Night Action after season 2 and spent season 3 away from Peter, training in California. That would be an incredibly interesting surprise for Peter to face in season 4, since all he cared about was keeping Rose safe, out of harm's way, and taken care of. He shares his guilt about her quite a bit in season 3.
Early in season 3, he even attempts to name Rose as his financial beneficiary in the event of his death while on a mission. It doesn't work, but he clearly still loves her and never stopped thinking about her. He hasn't moved on, which means their story isn't finished. Rose's return could be even as simple as that: Wrapping up their love story rather than getting Rose in the mix of Night Action.
Personally, I'm hoping that after taking a season off, Luciane Buchanan returns as Rose in a role bigger than a cameo in season 4, and if the series should continue beyond that, she's once again a series regular. The Night Agent just isn't the same without Rose, and it was glaringly obvious that Peter was missing something, a spark, throughout season 3. Fingers crossed we get her back in season 4!
