It's been over a year since Netflix's most high-octane, action-packed original series released a new season, but the countdown is officially on for new episodes. The Night Agent season 3 releases on Thursday, Feb. 19, and in advance of the new season's drop on Netflix, the streaming service unveiled the full trailer for the new episodes as well as new images from the season.

When we last left Peter in season 2, he was making difficult decisions regarding a mission gone bad that cost the life of his partner (who was played by Brittany Snow). His hard choices helped save the day, and while he could have gotten into some serious trouble, Catherine (Amanda Warren) presented him with a deal to work as a double agent to continue pursuing Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum).

In the season 3 photos, Gabriel Basso steps right back into the role of Peter Sutherland for a demanding mission that includes familiar faces and new characters that will be both friends and enemies. Most notably, Fola Evans-Akingbola returns as Chelsea Arrington after being mostly absent in season 2, and other new cast members including David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, and Stephen Moyer.

Peter takes on a new mission in The Night Agent season 3

Along with the photos, Netflix gave fans an extended preview of The Night Agent season 3 with the full official trailer. When a terrorist attack blows up a plane, the president initiates Night Action, which inevitably leaves Peter wondering if he's responsible for bad things happening after making a "deal with the devil," a.k.a. Jacob Monroe. Naturally, he works the case as a double agent.

Get more insight into what to expect from season 3 in the synopsis below:

"Coming off the explosive events of season 2, Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process."

Unfortunately, Luciane Buchanan won't be back as Peter's girlfriend and frequent partner in missions Rose Larkin. But he'll have another buddy this season in Isabel De Leon (Genesis Rodriguez), a journalist deep in the investigation of the dark money network that intersects with the broader aspects of Peter's mission. Just like Rose, she puts her life on the line to help Peter.

The trailer illustrates just how dangerous helping Peter is this time around, as he's put in near-death experiences no less than three times in the two-minute clip alone. A motorcycle accident, a car with cut brakes crushing into rocks, a massive head wound, and oh, is that Peter being held underwater? Once again, our guy will have to cheat death more than a few times and fight to save himself and national security.

Thankfully, The Night Agent appears to be circling a season 4 renewal, so we don't have to worry about Peter's fate too much in season 3. But he'll be facing a number of close calls when the new batch of 10 episodes arrives and sends him on another race against the clock. Get a glimpse at the edge-of-your-seat action in the trailer below!

The Night Agent season 3 premieres Thursday, Feb. 19 on Netflix.
