Mickey Haller is back in the courtroom for another season full of twists, turns, and dangerous situations from his latest case. In The Lincoln Lawyer season 3, Mickey's taking on the case of Julian La Cosse, who's accused of murdering Mickey's old friend Glory Days. It's his most personal case yet, but if anyone's up for the challenge, it's Mickey.

The Netflix original legal drama has grown into a fan-favorite, with each season tackling a winding mystery based on the books by Michael Connelly. The Lincoln Lawyer has a rather light and easy to watch quality, even with the intense theme of murder at the center of Mickey's cases. But how intense does the language and violence get this time around? Here's what to know before watching!

The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 rated TV-MA

According to the show's official page on Netflix, The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 has earned an age rating of TV-MA for language, smoking, and suicide. For further information on the age rating and potential content and trigger warnings, we're sharing a (mostly) spoiler-free explanation on what to expect from all 10 episodes.

Sex and nudity

Beyond kissing and implied sex happening offscreen, there's no sex or nudity featured in The Lincoln Lawyer season 3. Past seasons have featured some steamy sequences, but season 3 was mostly just strictly business for Mickey Haller.

Language and violence

As for language and violence, here's where the TV-MA rating starts to show its stripes. While the show feels a lot like a cable blue-sky series a la Suits or White Collar, there's actually a fair amount of profanity throughout the episodes. The language can get heightened with different variations of "f-ck," so take caution for little ears who might overhear the series.

Even though violence isn't included in the age rating description, there's also some violence scattered throughout season 3. Mickey once again catches himself on the wrong side of another person's fist, leaving him with a bloody lip. Season 3 also features additional violence, including a car accident (as teased in the trailer), gunshots, stabbing, and other instances.

Content and trigger warnings

Speaking of the violence, there's a sequence late into season 3 that features a character dying by suicide in a public space. It's a shocking and unexpected moment that leaves multiple characters in shock. The moment it happens is briefly shown from further away, but the aftermath isn't shown onscreen. Only the reactions to the event are shown.

Also, be warned that the season revolves around the murder of a sex worker and discusses some heavy topics as the case is argued and investigated. It's a tense and high-stakes courtroom battle as Mickey attempts to honor his friend's life, which puts him in danger. Those with a fear of snakes should also take caution: A rattlesnake appears on screen and could be a jump scare!
