We have waited so long already. The last time we saw a new episode of Stranger Things was back in 2022. Three years is a long time to go without seeing something new. We have other shows to watch, and some people have already moved on.

One might have hoped that the final season of the series would be available in the summer. According to a report from What's On Netflix, however, the show will likely not be back on until October. Sure, this makes sense, too, as the series is a bit scary, and Halloween is in October. That seems too easy, though.

The catch is that, just like with season 4, Stranger Things is almost certain to be split into two different release dates. Viewers might see part of the return of the show in October, but the rest of the series launching in November. In 2022, Stranger Things 4 released seven episodes on May 27, but then two more on July 1.

Stranger Things season 5 allegedly gets to release date news

We should make clear that Netflix has not announced a release date officially, and neither have they said the final season would be split into two. Still, this is not the first time that the streamer has broken seasons into two parts. Besides the most recent season of Stranger Things, Netflix did the same thing with The Lincoln Lawyer.

The problem is that fans have waited so long already to see how the show will end and find out what happens to Eleven and her friends that teasing us at first makes it nearly cruel. "Nearly" is the operative word.

The truth is that no matter what Netflix decides to do with the final season of the series, we will tune in whenever the streamer chooses to drop the episodes. We might complain about potentially breaking the season into two parts and, therefore, having two different release dates, but once we have seen the ending of the series, we probably won't remember we had to wait and then wait again.

The trick might be for series creators, the Duffer brothers, to find a way to end the series and have most fans be OK with the outcome. If the last season is a failure, we will only ask for more. Then we would only need to wait another three years or so for Stranger Things season 6.
