A limited series of mystery comedy/drama set in the scenery of the holiday season and a star-studded cast might be the right treat to set the viewers up for the upcoming summer holidays.

That is what Sirens creator Molly Smith Metzler (up ) is counting upon when she came up with the idea for this dark comedy that relies on Greek mythology references.

The general idea is promising, and so is the cast, which includes Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Kevin Bacon, among others. There are already positive critics' reactions (they do get to see these beforehand). Yet, how will the Netflix audience react? We will find out when the series starts airing on May 22, 2025.

What is the Sirens plot about?

The series, based on on Metzler’s play Elemeno Pea, presents its main character, Devon DeWitt (Fahy) who travels to an island reserved for the rich and famous to find out what kind of a relationship her sister Simone (Allcock) has with a puzzling wealthy socialite Michaela Kell (Moore), who seems to lead some cult-like life.

The surroundings are plush and inviting, but over a weekend full of strange events, Devon starts finding out that the clear blue waters around the island are much murkier than they present themselves, as are the people inhabiting it. So, Devon sets out to discover what lies behind the whole scene and what makes Michaela Kell tick.

Who created Sirens and who is in the cast?

Along with Metzler, behind Sirens is a serious creators team executive produced by Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, Margot Robbie for LuckyChap, and Colin McKenna. Nicole Kassell (Watchmen and The Baby) is the director and executive producer of the series.

  • Julianne Moore (May December) as Michaela Kell, the wife of billionaire Peter Kell and a philanthropist and animal activist who is behind the island’s high society
  • Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) as Devon DeWitt, the story's main character, who sets her mind on finding out what is going on behind the island's lavish scenery, and to protect her sister Simone.
  • Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow) as Simone DeWitt, Devon's younger sister, who thinks she has landed a dream job as Michaela Kell’s personal assistant.
  • Kevin Bacon (lots of things you know) plays Peter Kell, a man born into money who seems to be the most important person wherever he goes.

As was the case in Ancient Greek theatre there is a long list of characters that appear and playing their part in the puzzle Devon DeWitt has to solve if she wants to find out what is going on behind the scenes and if the call of the sirens as deadly as it can be.
