4 series and movies you must stream on Netflix this weekend (April 11-13)

Black Mirror season 7

Netflix did not drop many new items in the last week because, often, week two of any given month is still trying to recover from the massive amount of new stuff in week one. Everything but one of the series or movies below dropped in the last few days.

It is not about volume but quality, you see. And Netflix brings us lots of quality. To bring up a divisive subject: the cost of a Netflix subscription is worth it.

Below is a series you must watch, even though it might not be on Netflix's top 10 list. It should be, so let's start there.

What to watch this weekend (April 11 to 13) on Netflix

North of North

Like some other recent great projects that have featured actors of native North American heritage (see Dark Winds and Reservation Dogs), this series is Inuit-led and wonderful. While it is generally warm-hearted and about a young woman dealing with the limitations of a small town in a rural area, it is self-aware enough to know when to add the comedy as well.

All the actors are fantastic, and the Netflix-level production adds to the overall value. You need to watch this show at the end of a stressful day.

The Gardener (2025)

You have to watch this flick to determine for yourself if it's any good. The first thing you need to know is that it stars Jean-Claude Van Damme. You might not have seen him in some time, but he has been working a lot. His films have also added a comedic element that his early works did not.

In this movie (and you have to stick with it all the way through), Van Damme plays Leo, a gardener on the estate of France's Special Advisor to the President of France, whose name is Serge. The Prime Minister wants Serge dead, though, so Serge and Leo team up to try to fight off the assassins the PM has hired to hunt down Serge.

Black Mirror season 7

The new season is simply not long enough. It is only six episodes long. But there is a certain difference between this season and the previous ones.

Sure, the horror will speed up your heart rate, but there are comedy episodes, too. The production value remains exceptionally high. And you can bet one of your favorite actors will appear in one of the episodes.

The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox

Even if you aren't the biggest baseball fan, this is worth a watch. The Red Sox did not win the World Series last year (spoiler alert!), but in this docuseries of eight episodes, we get insight into how a team works in a way we haven't seen before. There is no manufactured drama, either. Everything is real.

Plus, we get a view of what it takes to be a major league baseball player, including the personal dilemma that Jarren Duran went through early in his career. Forget about the baseball. This is a human look at actual people.
