You have watched Max's Hard Knocks, surely. If you are a football fan, you want to get all the fix you can on your favorite sport. Max takes us into the inner realms of a certain team, and we get to know the players off the field, and the coaches, too. It makes for sometimes riveting viewing, even if we do not like the team the show is based around. Every season, there is a new team.
But let's leave Max behind because we love Netflix, right? The streamer has also brought us things like Quarterback and Receiver, and while those are great, they are also NFL-based. If your favorite part about football is college football then you should be overjoyed. Netflix is about to give you a gift.
Well, not in time for Christmas, mind you. You will have to wait until the summer of 2025. But you also won't get just one team to focus on; you will get the entirety of the SEC. That means if you are interested in the Tennessee Volunteers, you can watch that happily, and then boo loudly when the part about the Alabama Crimson Tide Red Elephants comes on.
Netflix will stream a new docuseries on SEC football beginning in the summer of 2025
The eight-part, 45-minutes-per-episode docuseries is produced by Box To Box Films. This is the same company that brought us Sprint, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Break Point, and Full Swing. They know sports, and they know how to give watchers viewing that is both meaningful and enticing. They might linger on a key player or coach, such as Georgia's Kirby Smart, but only long enough to want you to see more later.
Netflix is promising "unprecedented access" to plays and coaches, though that is often an overused phrase. The promising part is that since Box To Box is producing, we know it should hold true.
The streaming service is clearly trying to get a lot more into football. Besides all the docuseries, Netflix will also be broadcasting two Christmas Day NFL games for the first time. Even if you do not love football, you might want to tune in. The halftime show for the Baltimore Ravens at the Houston Texans will be the incredible Beyoncé.
Plus, as part of NFL Christmas Gameday, Mariah Carey will perform "All I Want for Christmas is You" in a pre-recorded performance. You will want to watch Netflix all day after opening presents.
