Mariah Carey will bring some magic to Netflix's NFL Christmas day broadcast

There will be a lot of music on Christmas day.

What would Christmas be like with Mariah Carey? To be fair, we will likely never know. She is the Queen of Christmas and her music seemingly bursts out at us while shopping at department stores, and, well...to be fair, blasts at us through the speakers on our computer as we do our online shopping. There is also great news for fans of Carey and the NFL.

Besides the other excellent performers before and during the games (more on that in a minute), The streaming service has announced that Carey will be part of the show open for NFL Christmas Gameday on Netflix. She will deliver a (OK, it's pre-recorded) performance of "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

But who really cares if Carey's Christmas magic is pre-recorded or not? Heck, we listen to all her Christmas songs throughout the holiday season and it is not like Carey is sitting in your home live-signing the tunes. Or if she is, good for you.

The other music happening includes Beyoncé. Queen Bey will perform during halftime of the Houston Texans versus Baltimore Ravens game. Beyoncé is from Houston, of course, so her showing up at a Texans game isn't all that surprising. That Netflix has the power to entice her to show up on Christmas day, though, is quite impressive.

Let's say you don't really care about music, though. Let's say you want a laugh. You are in luck there as well. As part of the pregame show, comedian Bert Kreischer will join NFL Christmas Gameday as a tailgate correspondent, and comedian Nate Bargatze will provide special guest commentary. Bargatze could have done the entire pregame show himself (except for the Mariah Carey part, of course) and that would have been perfect.

In other words, if you love the NFL, and you also love Netflix, then Christmas day, after you have opened presents and had a bit of egg nog, is going to be a grand time for you. The games between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, and then the Ravens versus Texans, should be terrific. The off-field entertainment is shaping up to be fantastic as well.
