Zack Snyder is keeping busy at Netflix right now with the release of Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver and the upcoming debut of his R-rated, extended, director's cuts scheduled for an eventual 2024 release.

Plus, he has a new adult animated series coming soon to Netflix titled Twilight of the Gods. With all of that on his plate, you might be surprised to learn that Snyder is also thinking of the franchise opportunities for Rebel Moon. Not only has he envisioned where the third movie could go, Snyder reportedly thinks he could eventually make six movies.

Will Netflix even make a third Rebel Moon, though? Both films have been critically panned and Snyder even told The Hollywood Reporter that the movies "didn't earn a profit."

Still, Snyder is ready to continue his story. He knows what direction he wants to take the films, but first he's excited for fans to see his "alternative reality director's cut journey," which he considers his "catharsis" as the director and creator of this expansive universe.

What would a third Rebel Moon movie be about?

The end of The Scargiver (SPOILERS!) leaves us in an interesting place. Kora (Sofia Boutella) has survived, though she's lost important allies, including her love interest Gunnar (Michiel Huisman), now she can set her sights on the Imperium dreadnoughts and tracking down Princess Issa (Stella Grace Fitzgerald), who has been reborn, in a way. Snyder describes her as "kind of a space Jesus. It's a mythological thing."

While chatting with The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder revealed his plans for a possible third movie.

"The story of movie three would be tracking [Princess Issa] down and finding out how [the rebels] can use the victory at Veldt to create a coalition of planets that were on the edge of rebellion, but have now seen the example of downing a dreadnought. Maybe now there’s an opportunity. It’s a chink in the armor. That’s really what it is."

Snyder gave fans curious about the fate of Darrian Bloodaxe (Ray Fisher) a glimmer of hope in his THR interview, revealing that his fate "could be . It’s hard to say. That’s a question mark." By the end of the second movie, Darrian is left fatally wounded during battle, but he's not confirmed to be dead.

A third movie would focus heavily on Balisarius (Fra Free) now that Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) has been defeated.

"Exponentially, you’d start getting more and more Balisarius until it’s just Balisarius and Kora, probably."

Zack Snyder says there could be 'four or six movies' depending on what happens

Snyder revealed to Radio Times that he doesn't want to stop at a third Rebel Moon, he could see up to six movies being created, or four in all, but potentially six if they split the next two into two parts just like they did with the first two.

Now that Rebel Moon set a precedent by being halved into two, Snyder says he wonders if "an audience would be disappointed if they only got one movie now from Rebel Moon."

Obviously, it's too early to say if Netflix intends to make more Rebel Moon movies, but Snyder definitely has a plan for the franchise's future if they choose to give him the green light.
