Will The Book of Clarence starring LaKeith Stanfield be on Netflix after theaters?
LaKeith Stanfield is back with a new movie titled The Book of Clarence, and it's the perfect film to watch if you're looking for something that'll keep you entertained throughout. It's now in theaters, so make sure to buy tickets to see it. It's also expected to have a digital release and make its way to Netflix in the future. More on that below.
The Book of Clarence has been described as a biblical comedy-drama film, which was written and directed by Jeymes Samuel. Samuel is known for co-writing the screenplay and directing Netflix's The Harder They Fall.
The movie is set in Jerusalem in 33 AD and centers around a streetwise yet struggling man named Clarence who wants better for his family and to clear himself of the debt he racked up. The first plan he comes up with is to attempt to join Jesus’ apostles for protection, but that doesn't end up panning out. So, he comes up with another scheme of posing as a new Messiah and tricking people into believing that he can heal them with his touch. With these fake miracles, he starts to make money to pay back his debt, but it also eventually draws negative attention from Roman authorities.
Stanfield portrays the protagonist, Clarence, as well as Clarence's twin brother, Thomas, in the film. Joining him in the cast are other incredible actors such as Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, Anna Diop, David Oyelowo, Micheal Ward, Alfre Woodard, Teyana Taylor, and Caleb McLaughlin.
More on The Book of Clarence digital and Netflix release
Unfortunately, a digital release date and Netflix release date have not been announced yet. But this isn't surprising since the movie just came out. It'll most likely be a while before Sony (distributor) announces when the movie will be available for rent or purchase digitally. However, you can expect to eventually be able to rent or buy the movie through Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Vudu, etc.
The Book of Clarence will also be coming to Netflix in the future because of the deal that the streamer has with Sony. The comedy-drama's distributor is TriStar Pictures, which is owned by Sony, so it's basically a Sony movie. However, it's unclear when exactly the film will land on Netflix.
We've seen previous Sony releases drop on the streaming platform about four to six months after they hit theaters. With this timeline, that means we could possibly see The Book of Clarence make its way to Netflix sometime between May and July 2024. We'll just have to wait and see, though.
Once the digital and Netflix release dates are revealed, we'll make sure to come back and provide this information. So, stay tuned to Netflix Life!
