Who is Natalie in After Everything? (character explained)

Today is the big day, Netflix Lifers! The fifth and final chapter of Tessa and Hardin's love story is finally streaming on Netflix, and it's called After Everything. We meet a new character in this film, and her name is Natalie.

Spoilers ahead from After Everything.

We first learn of Natalie when Hardin is having lunch with his parents after a night out partying and drinking with his publisher and her friend. It's been a year since Hardin and Tessa broke up, but he's still not over it and has been going down a destructive path.

Since Hardin is going through some kind of writer's block and misses Tessa, his mother suggests to him that maybe he needs to make peace with his past so that he can move on. She then mentions Natalie's name and says that she met with her on Christmas. She tells Hardin that Natalie had moved to Lisbon, Portugal for a fresh start but that she had asked about him. This was Hardin's mom's way of suggesting to Hardin that he go visit Natalie. Although we still don't know who exactly Natalie is at this point in the film, it's inferred that she's someone from Hardin's past.

And we would be right because we find out later that Natalie is a former love interest of Hardin's from his teenage years. They didn't end up parting on good terms because of an incident involving a bet.

After losing his watch in a poker game, Hardin accepts a bet made by his friend that involves seducing Natalie and then recording them sleeping together. If he completes the bet, he will get his expensive watch back. Hardin goes through with the bet, but after he sends the video to his friend as proof, that friend sends the video around and it goes viral. This ultimately ruins Natalie's life, so she packs her bags and moves to Lisbon.

Taking his mom's advice, Hardin travels to Lisbon to make amends with Natalie. In the end, Natalie forgives Hardin and they make up. Hardin even gifts Natalie the coastal house of her dreams.

Who plays Natalie in After Everything?

Well, that would be British actress Mimi Keene. You might recognize her from her other role as Ruby Matthews in the popular Netflix teen series Sex Education. She also played the role of Cindy Williams in the soap opera EastEnders. Some of her other work includes roles in the movies Close and Tolkien. She even appeared in an episode of the medical drama series Casualty, playing the character Lana Westmore.
