Where you have seen the talented cast of Mother of the Bride before
By Reed Gaudens
So far in 2024, Netflix has had quite the star-studded run with its original romantic comedy movies. The year kicked off with Dan Levy's tear-jerker Good Grief, continued with Gina Rodriguez's team-up with Tom Ellis in Players, then Lindsay Lohan made our Irish Wish come true, and now the streamer debuts a serious one-two-three punch with Mother of the Bride.
In the movie, a single mother receives a real surprise when she learns that her daughter is not only engaged but will have a destination wedding in Thailand in less time than she can wrap her brain around the whole situation. To keep the hits coming, she then discovers that the father of her daughter's fiancé happens to be a long-ago boyfriend who broke her heart.
The cast of Mother of the Bride is led by the superstar trio of Brooke Shields, Miranda Cosgrove, and Benjamin Bratt, and while they might be the film's biggest stars, its supporting cast might be among Netflix's best of the year. If you're watching the movie during its Mother's Day weekend premiere and wondering, "Where do I know them from?," here's the answer to your question.
Brooke Shields as Lana Winslow
Brooke Shields, who's 58 years old as of the film's release, began her career as a model as a baby and landed her first acting role at 12 years old in Pretty Baby (1978). She went on to star in titles like The Blue Lagoon (1980), Endless Love (1981), Suddenly Susan (1996-2000), Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009). Among other film and television roles, she also appeared in an episode of Friends as a vengeful childhood enemy of Chandler's and three episodes of Hannah Montana as Miley's late mother. Shield headlined Netflix's 2021 holiday rom-com A Castle for Christmas.
Miranda Cosgrove as Emma Winslow
Miranda Cosgrove, who turns 31 years old days after the movie's release, came to prominence as a child star with her role in the Nickeoldeon sitcom Drake & Josh from 2004 to 2007. Prior to her supporting role as the devious kid sister Megan, she appeared alongside Jack Black in 2003's comedy School of Rock. From 2007 to 2012, Cosgrove starred in her own Nick sitcom iCarly, later reprising the role in the Paramount+ reboot of the same name from 2021 to 2023. Also a singer with an album and an EP released in 2010 in 2011, she voices Margo in the Despicable Me movies.
Sean Teale as RJ Jackson
Sean Teale, who's 31 years old at the time of the film's release, might be the freshest face in the Mother of the Bride main cast for most viewers, but this isn't his first time in a major production. The British actor had main roles in the fifth and sixth seasons of Skins, the second season of Mr. Selfridge, and the second season of The CW period drama Reign. He also led the Syfy series Incorporated, appeared in the short-lived series The Gifted and Little Voice, and starred in Netflix's hit series Who Is Erin Carter? You might also recognize him from the Hulu period rom-com Rosaline. He'll next star in ABC's Ryan Murphy series Dr. Odyssey alongside Joshua Jackson.

He's starred in the early 2000s movies A Cinderella Story and Freaky Friday, which was directed by Mother of the Bride director Mark Waters.
