Mother of the Bride starring Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove nabs spring release date

Brooke Shields is set to make her return to Netflix with a hilarious rom-com titled Mother of the Bride, which will also star iCarly's Miranda Cosgrove. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on May 9, 2024.

Mother of the Bride comes from Mean Girls director Mark Waters with a script written by Robin Bernheim, who also wrote Netflix's Princess Switch trilogy. Shields has worked with Netflix previously with her film Castle for Christmas. In addition to Shields and Cosgrove, the cast also includes Benjamin Bratt, Chad Michael Murray, Rachael Harris, and more. Keep reading to find out everything we know about the movie so far!

What is Mother of the Bride about?

The romantic comedy follows mother and daughter Lana (Shields) and Emma (Cosgrove) after Emma gets engaged to the son of the man who broke Lana's heart years before.

Here's the official synopsis from Netflix:

"When Lana’s daughter Emma returns from a year abroad in London, she drops a bombshell on her mother: she’s getting married. On an island. Next month! Things only get worse when Lana discovers that the mystery man who stole her daughter’s heart just so happens to be the son of the man who broke hers years ago."

As mentioned above, Brooke Shields stars in the movie, she'll play the "mother" of the bride in this scenario while her on-screen daughter is played by Miranda Cosgrove.

Shields is best known for her starring roles as Violet in Pretty Baby and Emmeline Lestrange in The Blue Lagoon. Mother of the Bride marks Cosgrove’s Netflix debut. You might recognize her from her starring role as Carly Shay in the popular Nickelodeon teen sitcom iCarly. She also played the role of Megan Parker in Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh. As of 2023, you catch Cosgrove reprising her role as Carly Shay in the iCarly reboot on Paramount+.
