When the rest of Outer Banks season 4 releases on Netflix (it's very soon!)

The good news? Outer Banks is back! The not-so-good news? It's a split season. If you're watching the latest season 4 episodes that dropped on Netflix on Oct. 10 and you're thinking, "Why are there only five episodes?!," that's why. The streaming service opted to break the new season of the hit teen adventure drama into two parts. But the wait isn't long at all!

While that's a bummer for binge-watchers who want the full story in one sitting, it's a win for those of us who want to savor our time with the Pogues a little bit more. This season, the group of adventurers expect to enjoy the sweet life with the fruits of their labor post-El Dorado. However, a stroke of unfortunate financial luck has them accepting an offer to hunt Blackbeard's treasure.

Once again, John B and company are out of their depth against intimidating opponents and in life-threatening situations as the stakes get higher and higher. After you have binged your way through all five episodes of Outer Banks season 4 part 1, when can you look forward to watching the next five episodes? Fortunately, part 2 premieres in November, less than one month later!

Outer Banks season 4 part 2 releases in November

As mentioned above, Outer Banks season 4 part 2 begins streaming on Netflix on Thursday, Nov. 7 at midnight PT and 3 a.m. ET. Sometimes Netflix's split seasons have months in between them, but the streamer isn't making Outer Banks fans wait longer than a month. There's just 28 days in between the drops of part 1 and part 2. You can make it!

The fourth season marks the first split season for Outer Banks, which had previously dropped 10 episodes all at once. Netflix has been testing split seasons with a number of shows, including the likes of Bridgerton and Emily in Paris, whether out of post-strike necessity or as a creative way to expand the storytelling of these popular and very bingeable shows.

It's worth noting that not all shows Netflix have split in half have maintained a split season pattern moving forward. For instance, Netflix split the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer into two parts in the summer of 2023, but when the third season premieres in October, all 10 episodes will arrive as one single release. Being so, OBX might not always be split up moving forward.

As of the season 4 part 1 release date Oct. 10, Netflix hasn't announced a potential season 5 just yet. Back when season 4 was announced in February 2023, Netflix revealed the renewal less than a week before the season 3 premiere. Since it's one of the most popular shows on the streamer, fans shouldn't be waiting much longer than the wait between part 1 and 2 to find out about season 5.
