New seasons of Temptation Island are coming to Netflix!

According to Vulture's Josef Adalian, Netflix has picked up Temptation Island and will make new seasons of the hit reality TV series. The series premiered on FOX in 2001 and ran for three seasons through 2003 before it ended. USA Network revived the series in 2019 and produced five seasons over the last five years. So far, there have been eight seasons of the series, but we're expecting the Netflix seasons will be more like the five seasons on USA than the original run.

Now, Netflix is the new home of the series and new seasons are on the way. Mark L. Walberg, who is the best host in reality TV right now and it's not even close, is expected to continue to host the Netflix seasons of the series. I can't wait for those who haven't met him yet to do so on Netflix!

Walberg tweeted a cryptic message when the news about Temptation Island moving to Netflix broke.

I'm a huge fan of Temptation Island. It's one of the best and messiest reality dating shows on TV right now, and it pairs nicely with Netflix's most popular dating shows, including Love is Blind, The Ultimatum, and Perfect Match.

We still don't know when the next season is coming to Netflix, but according to Dexerto, there's a casting call for couples to join the next season, which will film in May 2024. With that production date, it's possible that we could see the new season of Temptation Island sometime in the late summer or fall of 2024. It's also possible, because Netflix has done it in the past, Netflix will hold the new season until 2025. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Are the old seasons of Temptation Island coming to Netflix?

As it stands, the old seasons of Temptation Island are not coming to Netflix, according to Adalian. As pointed out in the Vulture story, the current deal is "only for new episodes and not the library of those produced for Fox or USA."

For now, though, right? Netflix could and probably should pick up the licensing rights to the older seasons, especially if this show gets popular. We'll just have to wait and see if that happens, but it seems like something Netflix would and could easily do for the right price.

Currently, the five seasons of Temptation Island that aired on USA are available to stream on Peacock.

Older seasons of reality shows typically perform well on Netflix, especially for dating shows. We've seen seasons of Are You The One? and Married at First Sight jump into the Netflix Top 10 after they're released on Netflix. I have to imagine the same would happen for Temptation Island.

The Netflix bump is real. There are countless examples of shows that were previously available to stream on other streaming services moving to Netflix and doing huge numbers. Netflix just might be what Temptation Island needs to become one of the most popular reality TV shows on the air.
