The world of The Walking Dead has grown considerably since the first series. It all started with the spin-off Fear the Walking Dead, and now there are multiple shows that have followed on since the end of the OG show.
For the longest time, only The Walking Dead was on Netflix. As AMC owns the rights to the show, it kept the spin-offs on its own platform. After all, Netflix was focused on creating its own shows, and there were even a few zombie shows in the works.
Now Netflix has changed its plan. The streamer is back to licensing content, and that’s great news for The Walking Dead fans. Two of the spin-offs are now streaming, as of today, Aug. 19. Two more will join soon!
Fear the Walking Dead and 1 other spin-off now on Netflix
It’s been a long wait, but all eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead are finally on the streaming platform. This series takes place during the events of The Walking Dead, so you’ll want to jump back and forth between them if you want to watch in the timeline order.
If you’re not bothered about timeline order, then you’ll just want to dive straight into Fear. The story is mostly told through the eyes of Madison Clark, a high school guidance counsellor, who is just trying to raise her two children single-handedly after being widowed. Since the start of the apocalypse, she has teamed up with English teacher Travis Manawa, but blending their families together brought some unforeseen chaos.
The apocalypse is a world of survival. Sometimes, people get left behind. What happens as some people start to hold others back?
The other spin-off now on Netflix is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. This is one of the latest spin-offs to air on AMC, and currently there is only one season. That whole season is available to binge-watch.
It picks up with Daryl Dixon’s story. He ends up in Paris, which is where the zombie outbreak started. Now he needs to find his way back home while helping the various people of Paris survive the outbreak. It is set after the events of The Walking Dead, and the second season will see him team back up with Carol.
2 The Walking Dead spin-off shows coming to Netflix soon
There are two more coming to Netflix, but not until Monday, Jan. 13, according to Variety. Those two spin-offs are:
The Walking Dead: Dead City
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Lived
The first of those spin-offs focuses on Negan and Maggie, two you wouldn’t have ever expected to team up. They head to Manhattan, which has been cut off from the mainland since the start of the apocalypse. It’s now a crumbling city filled with denizens and the dead. Can Maggie and Negan survive in the search of what they need. How long until they want to kill each other?
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Lived is a miniseries that follows Rick and Michonne. It’s time for the two of them to find each other again and for Rick to be reunited with Judith. It’s not going to be an easy journey, though.
