Tyler Perry is set to return soon with a steamy thriller called Mea Culpa. It's the filmmaker's fourth project on Netflix, which is part of his multi-year first-look deal with the streamer. His upcoming fifth project for Netflix will be the war drama film Six Triple Eight.
We first learned of Mea Culpa back in February 2023. At that time, it was announced that Perry had set his latest movie with Netflix and that he'd be writing, directing, and producing it. We had also learned at the time who else had signed on to produce, what it would be about, and who would be starring in it. Now, we know the official release date!
Find out all these juicy details below!
When is Mea Culpa coming to Netflix?
The legal thriller film is scheduled to be released on Netflix on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET. Additionally, it's rated R, meaning it may be unsuitable for ages under 17. It was given this age rating for strong sexual content, graphic nudity, strong language, and some violence and drug use. Given what type of film this is and the type of content shown, it makes sense why it's rated R. Overall, it's meant to be watched by mature, adult audiences only. We wouldn't recommend watching it with young kids around.
Synopsis
The movie follows a criminal defense attorney named Mea Harper, who takes on the case of an artist accused of murdering his girlfriend, in hopes that the case will make her partner at her firm. But as she works to crack the case, things quickly take a dangerous turn, and Mea finds herself having to choose between "family, duty, and her own dangerous desires."
