Tyler Perry is creating a new movie for Netflix that will tell the story history books have glossed over or never even mentioned. Six Triple Eight will center a fascinating group of black women who performed a little-known task of epic proportions during WWII.
Six Triple Eight will see Perry write, direct and produce his fourth feature for Netflix (he previously worked on A Fall From Grace: A Madea Homecoming, A Jazzman’s Blues, and Don’t Look Up).

Is there a synopsis for Six Triple Eight?
An official synopsis has yet to be released, but the story is based on an article published in WWII History magazine by Kevin M. Hymel. The article tells of a group of 855 black women who joined the war effort and were tasked with sorting three years of undelivered mail. Known as the 6888th Postal Directory Battalion, this group would serve their country during wartime and experience sexism, racism, and Nazi Germany. The 6888 would sort through 17 million pieces of mail in half the time allotted using the motto “No mail, low morale” to keep them going.
Six Triple Eight filming
According to What’s on Netflix, filming for the movie began in January 2023 and will last through April 2023. The full cast announcement on Jan. 11 confirmed that principal photography had already started on the upcoming film.
