Tires season 2: Everything we know so far
By Reed Gaudens
Shane Gillis launched his Netflix original comedy series Tires on May 23, but before the show even premiered, the streamer announced the news that the show had been renewed for season 2. The six-episode first season was self-financed by the comedian before Netflix swooped in to buy the rights and offer him a follow-up stand-up special to his 2023 hour Beautiful Dogs.
In the series co-created, written by, and starring Gillis, the Valley Forge auto repair shop needs a good boost when Will (Steve Gerben) takes over as manager. But he has little help from his cousin and slacking employee Shane (Gillis). Despite his best efforts, he's bumbling at best. Here's to hoping he can keep spirits high in season 2. Here's everything to know so far about the next season!
Tires season 2 will be released in 2025
Along with the renewal announcement, Netflix confirmed Tires season 2 will be released in 2025, along with Gillis' second stand-up comedy special. While Netflix didn't share how many episodes would be included in the second season, the count (along with the budget) should arguably be increased by at least a few episodes since the streamer's now involved in production.
Speaking of production, Netflix hasn't yet revealed when filming will begin on season 2, though with a confirmed release window in 2025, cameras could start rolling by the end of 2024. The show won't take long to write and film and post-production isn't nearly as time consuming as a big-budget drama series. Tires season 2 could premiere again in May 2025 or sometime in summer 2025, but that's an initial prediction in the wake of the early renewal.
The series has a smaller cast, though with more resources from Netflix, that could look to change a little bit going forward. New characters could be added and others could have more screen time, which would be great for characters like Cal and Kilah. Here's the main cast of the show that's expected to be back for season 2:
- Shane Gillis as Shane
- Steve Gerben as Will
- Chris O'Connor as Cal
- Kilah Fox as Kilah
- Stavros Halkias as Dave
The following recurring cast members could return to reprise their roles in season 2, though some also might not. Netflix will likely start announcing more guest stars once Gillis and his team start writing and planning the new episodes.
- Andrew Schulz
- Francis Ellis
- Tommy Pope
- John McKeever
- Kerryn Feehan as Reagan
The first season ends with Will really in the trenches as he attempts to win over his dad and make his Valley Forge branch a success. He's finally shown a shred of faith and positivity in his leadership, which will surely ride into season 2. But the initiatives and gimmicks to get more customers won't come to an end and neither will Shane giving Will grief over every little thing. We'll share more plot details and potential season 2 spoilers as they become available.
