The Upshaws are back! What time to start watching part 5 on Netflix

'Tis the season for a new season of The Upshaws on Netflix. The Netflix original comedy series returns in April 2024 with the second half of its third season, otherwise officially known as part 5. Since its premiere in 2021, the sitcom's releases have been dubbed "parts," which might be confusing but ultimately just means more laughs are on the way.

Mike Epps, Kim Fields, and Wanda Sykes star in the series about a working class family living in Indianapolis and trying to make it all... well, work. It's not easy to stay afloat with the comical mishaps that arise from the Upshaw kids, their respective careers, and Bennie and Lucretia's playful rivalry. But somehow, they always come together, and they're coming together for six more episodes.

When can fans start watching the next batch of The Upshaws episodes? We're sharing the release time for part 5 below, as well as sharing the trailer and looking ahead at what's to come!

The Upshaws part 5 release time

All six episodes of The Upshaws part 5 will be released on Thursday, April 18 on Netflix. As always, the episodes will drop all at once at midnight PDT on April 18, while it will be a bit later on the East Coast of the United States when the episodes release at 3 a.m. Either way, it's a bit late to stay up to watch part 5, but with only six episodes, it's a quick binge if you do watch right away.

The part 5 trailer previews the storylines and punchlines heading our way on April 18, including more barbs and zingers thrown between Bennie and Lucretia. Perhaps the biggest development teased in the trailer, Aaliyah has a boyfriend and she keeps the news from Regina. Of course, Bennie's happy-go-lucky self finds a way to learn about the boyfriend first.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Bennie and Regina's money struggles persist, including a potentially shady dealing in the back of a club. Was that a bag full of money?! In the previous part, the family's dynamics continued to change as Lucretia hit a rough patch, Regina had near-fatal health struggles, Aaliyah crashed her car, and Bernard looked to open a gym. The family will still be dealing with the aftermath of some of these big changes in part 5.

Considering that Netflix has already renewed the sitcom for another season, we're definitely looking at another cliffhanger that could again cause a shift for the Upshaw family. We'll have to watch part 5 to see if the gym finally opens, how Regina handles Aaliyah having a boyfriend, if the money problems settle down, and how the finale sets up part 6 (season 6?).
