Jackie and Alex are still together when she kisses Cole in the My Life with the Walter Boys season 1 finale

In the season 1 finale, Alex confesses his love to Jackie during Will and Hayley's wedding reception, but Jackie doesn't say it back. Later that night, Jackie finds her now fixed teapot with a note attached. She realizes that Cole is the one who fixed it and goes to thank him for it. However, they end up kissing. The next morning, Jackie is nowhere to be found as Alex looks for her around the house.

Alex goes to confront Cole about Jackie's disappearance, but Cole looks to have no idea where Jackie is either. We find out in the next scene that Jackie has left Silver Falls to spend the summer with her Uncle Richard in New York.

Now, here's how the season 1 ending differs from the book's ending when it comes to Jackie. According to Screen Rant, in the My Life with the Walter Boys book, Alex actually overhears Jackie and Cole arguing and hears Jackie admit that she has feelings for Cole. So, Alex and Jackie end up breaking up, and Alex encourages Jackie to go back to New York for the summer.

Also, in the book, Jackie doesn't actually kiss Cole until after she and Alex break up. But in the show, Jackie and Alex are still in a relationship when she kisses Cole. In other words, the major change that the show makes for Jackie is that she cheats on Alex with Cole, but this doesn't happen in the book. Also, Alex knows that Jackie is going to New York for the summer in the book, while in the show he has no idea.

Hopefully, we get the chance to see a My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 because there's so much more that can be explored in this series. We'll keep you posted on the show's renewal status, so stay tuned to Netflix Life!
