The Night Agent season 2 over halfway finished filming ahead of 2024 release
By Reed Gaudens
Although it might be too soon to say that the countdown to The Night Agent season 2 is on, we're getting closer to the finish line as far as filming is concerned. On April 6, the show's Instagram page shared a photo featuring series star Gabriel Basso and crew member Luke Johnson on set holding a film slate. The caption reads, "Done filming EP 6."
Given the fact its been confirmed that the second season will contain 10 episodes just as the first season had, that means that the filming process has made it past the halfway point with only four more episodes left to shoot. The cast and crew have been hard at work on the highly anticipated follow-up season to the breakout series' debut since mid-January 2024.
Considering production has reached the latter half of season 2's order, it's looking like filming could wrap by early summer 2024, ensuring the season will in fact make its 2024 release date. Netflix confirmed The Night Agent will be back this year, and with all the dubbing and post-production necessary, it'll be a massive undertaking. But who's better suited than Peter Sutherland?
The second season already has so much for fans to look forward to, including a bunch of new cast members joining the team for the season's new mystery and mission. Netflix hasn't spilled the beans on exactly what the season will be about, but we can glean certain details from character descriptions. Once again, it seems Peter will be in a battle of trust from all angles.
Most directly, he will be working closely with his new partner and mentor Alice, who's played by Hairspray and Pitch Perfect star Brittany Snow. As a fan of the show, as well as a fan of Peter and Rose's relationship, I can't wait to see how Snow's character could potentially stir the pot. Peter's a very loyal man and partner, but how could working with Alice test him?
Elsewhere in season 2, which has been filming in Thailand, there seems to be some sort of connection to Iran in the season's storyline, as there are new characters with connections to the Iranian UN. There's also an international businessman and talk of a dictator. Clearly, Peter's first official mission as a Night Agent won't be an easy one and it will again have major implications for global politics.
Since the show's Instagram account has been doing an amazing job keeping fans updated with the production status, as well as introducing the new characters and cast members, the crew will definitely keep us all posted on where they're at filming wise. We'll have to stay patient for the eventual release, but as soon as they announce that filming has wrapped, all bets are off.
