The Night Agent cast celebrates season 2 wrap, new episodes 'coming soon'

We have great news to share for The Night Agent fans! No, Netflix hasn't announced the release date for season 2 just yet, but we have gotten a little bit closer to that moment becoming a reality. On June 12, the official Instagram account for the hit Netflix original series revealed that The Night Agent season 2 has officially wrapped filming and is "coming soon."

In the past few weeks, we had heard a few teases about the status of season 2's production, with series star Gabriel Basso stating in mid-May that the second season was "almost finished." Production has been taking place on the highly anticipated new season since January, and now that it's wrapped, the post-production process will lead into its eventual release later this year.

To celebrate the wrap of season 2 production, the cast and crew gathered together for a wrap party, where series star Luciane Buchanan posted a video from on her Instagram story. The official Instagram account for the series also celebrated the season's wrap with a video of Brittany Snow, who's a new recurring star in the second season.

Netflix has already confirmed that The Night Agent season 2 will be released in 2024, so now that the season has wrapped filming, it's only a matter of time until we learn when the episodes will be released. The season will again contain 10 episodes, but let's hope the streamer doesn't opt for a two-part release, which has become a new standard this year.

For now, we can keep our fingers crossed for a fall release for season 2, possibly sometime in October or November, though depending on how long post-production takes and what other shows Netflix dates for later this year, such as Outer Banks season 4 and The Diplomat season 2, the release could also creep into December to avoid conflicts and optimize its reach.

But there's more good news for The Night Agent fans beyond the wrap of the forthcoming second season. Ahead of season 2's release, series creator Shawn Ryan locked down an overall deal with Netflix and reportedly will open a writers room for season 3 in July 2024. While the season hasn't gotten an official green light by Netflix, getting a jump on the writing is a great sign for many reasons.
