After a wild season complete with an A.I. player, a few new twists, plenty of blindsides, and a handful of catfish for good measures, season 6 of The Circle has come to an end! Now, before I get too deep into the events of the finale, this is a good place to include a spoiler warning as I’m about to reveal who was blocked before the final rankings of the season as well as the identity of the winner of The Circle season 6.
Okay, spoiler alert given, let's dive into the season finale!
The episode picked up where the previous episode ended with Olivia aka Brandon having been named the secret influencer. This gave him the power to decide which player would be the final player blocked from The Circle before the final rankings.
In a disappointing move, it was Myles who Brandon decided to block, and honestly, that set the tone for the rest of the finale which – to be blunt – was a bit of a snooze. There really wasn’t much gameplay or major strategy following Myles blocking and there wasn’t even a host to MC the finale event.
Michelle Buteau likely missed The Circle season 6 finale due to Survival of the Thickest
After the players submitted their final rankings, it was time for the players to meet face-to-face for the first time to see who they had been truly playing with this season. Instead of the players heading off to meet in the room used by the influencers to block players where the group of finalists gets to meet one another around a round table and drinks, the players made their way directly to the finale set.
This was the first hint of a change that eventually came as host Michelle Buteau was MIA from the finale. Sure, she still provided commentary throughout the series as host; however, for the first time in the show’s history, she wasn’t present to speak with the group of finalists and the eliminated contestants during the finale.
Instead, the finalists and their former players were the ones who led the conversation with Buteau missing the entire finale. Her absence was not explained in the episode, but it’s likely that her absence was due to her Netflix comedy series Survival of the Thickest. While it's unclear when the two series were filmed, it seems there might have been some crossover between the two shows which prevented Buteau from appearing in person to speak with the finalists and reveal the winner. Speaking of which, let’s get to the winner.
The Circle season 6 winner is…
After Myles was blocked, only five players remained in the hunt for the grand prize and title of The Circle season 6 winner. In the end, it was Olivia aka Brandon who walked away victorious as the winner of The Circle season 6. Yay?
Look, no hard feelings, but Olivia wasn’t exactly a favorite for me this season and I honestly was underwhelmed when it was revealed that Olivia was the winner of the season. Though, I guess it’s fitting as this season of The Circle was honestly lacking. The twists fell a bit flat and the cast this season just didn’t have that wow factor past seasons contestants have brought to the show.
If we’re being honest, Kyle and QT were so much more deserving of the win this season. Kyle literally managed to survive elimination and made it all the way to the finale after being blocked, while QT played one of the best games the show has seen and should have walked away with the win for all her efforts over the course of the season. Instead, the pair finished and second and third place, respectively, with Jordan taking fourth place and Lauren placing last.
So with that the season is over and we have another winner. Hopefully, the next season will bring about some stronger twists and more memorable players.
The Circle season 6 is streaming now on Netflix.
