7 swooniest romantic Netflix shows, ranked by level of romance
By Reed Gaudens
6. XO, Kitty
The queen of matchmaking Kitty Song Covey found herself in the midst of her own romantic dilemmas in the To All the Boys spinoff series XO, Kitty. In the teen romantic comedy series, Kitty travels to South Korea to attend a boarding school with her long-distance boyfriend Dae. However, when she gets to her new school, Kitty winds up in a love triangle and then some with Min Ho and Yuri, too. She had quite the decisions to make in the show's first season!
Beyond Kitty's various romantic entanglements, the show's supporting cast also features other relationships, such as Q's relationship with Florian. No matter which couple, you'll be swooning and pining right alongside the characters. It's the romantic teen series of our dreams, and it definitely holds up to creator Jenny Han's other teen romance series The Summer I Turned Pretty. Who else can't wait to see what romantic mayhem Kitty gets up to in season 2?
5. Emily in Paris
If there's a couple things we can always count on our girl Emily Cooper for, it's ambitious marketing ideas and a messy romantic life. Emily in Paris chronicles the personal and professional misadventure of Lily Collins' title character, an American working in Paris and leaving a colorful trail of chaos in her wake. Since her first day in her new home city, she's had obvious feelings for her neighbor Gabriel, the handsome French chef. The will-they-or-won't-they tension between them is real.
Of course, it's not as easy as pining for your hot French chef neighbor. Emily has also had regrettable experiences with a friend's brother (yikes!) and a fan-favorite relationship with Alfie that blew up in her face in the season 3 finale. Outside of Emily's ups and downs in love, the whole series explores the love lives of other characters, whether it's Mindy, Sylvie, or Camille. There's no doubt that Emily in Paris is the ultimate romantic comedy series, but there's other Netflix shows that turn the romance way up.
4. Heartstopper
There's something about Heartstopper that's just magical. The show's ability to capture the complete essence of what it feels like to discover the world, love, and yourself in adolescence hasn't been captured quite this accurately or earnestly. And even though it's primarily aimed at teenagers, the romance factor is there and will tug on the strings of even the most jaded over-30 hearts. Nick and Charlie, Elle and Tao, Darcy and Tara, and Mr. Ajayi and Mr. Farouk are the couples who both stop our hearts and make them sing with the absolute best level of family-friendly romance.
