Stranger Things season 5 rumored to return to iconic location
By Bryce Olin
The cast and crew are rumored to be gearing up to start filming new scenes for Stranger Things season 5 at an iconic location featured prominently in season 4.
According to a post from the Stranger Things Spoilers account on X, formerly known as Twitter, it's been revealed that the cast and crew will be starting production at Creel House in the near future. In the post, they said the crew had already started setting up the set at Creel House, which is in Rome, Georgia.
You didn't think we'd seen the last of Creel House, did you? The location was a huge part of season 4. We know season 5 will continue to explore the origins of Henry Creel, Vecna, and the Upside Down. It sure seems like that part of this story revolves around Creel House, so it makes a lot of sense that we'll be seeing the characters back there.
In season 4, Creel House answered a lot of questions about Vecna's past. It's also where the final battle with Vecna took place with Steve, Nancy, and Robin taking out Vecna while Eleven waged war with Vecna inside his mindscape. It's also where Max "died" after she was used as bait in their plan to draw out Vecna and distract him while Steve, Nancy, and Robin destroyed him in the Upside Down.
As one of the commenters on X pointed out, there's a good chance that we'll see more flashbacks to the 1950s when Henry Creel lived at the home. If that picture in the tweet is accurate, the house is painted like the 1950s version of the house. Remember, we did see flashbacks to his time at Creel House during season 4. Since so much of the story that is happening now was influenced by that time, it does seem to make sense that there's more to explore.
As you'll also recall, Creel House was split in half after Max was "killed" by Vecna in the season 4 finale. It's unlikely that our characters will return to the actual house. There's likely nothing but the remnants left after the Upside Down opened giant cracks throughout Hawkins. I'd expect that the house could be demolished in season 5, but there's a chance that the mystery will still revolve around the haunted property.
Stranger Things season 5 started filming in early 2024. Production is reportedly going to last until the end of 2024. We're expecting to see the new season premiere sometime in 2025. There was a rumor Netflix was planning a Thanksgiving 2024 premiere for Stranger Things season 5, but that doesn't seem accurate. We'll share more news about the new season when we find out!
