The highly anticipated wrestling drama Heels, formerly a Starz original show, officially hit Netflix’s streaming ring on September 15! Starring Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, this fan-favorite series brings the high-stakes world of small-town pro wrestling to life.

For those just tuning in, Heels, created by Michael Waldron, follows two brothers, Jack and Ace Spade, as they wrestle (literally and figuratively) for control of their family’s wrestling legacy. Jack is the "heel" – the villain in the ring, while Ace shines as the "face" – the beloved hero. But beyond the ropes, their rivalry heats up as they grapple with ambition, family loyalty, and the sacrifices they must make to succeed.

Both season 1 and season 2 are now available to stream, so get ready to dive into the world of Duffy Wrestling League.

Read on as we dive into why Heels has made its way to Netflix, whether it’s worth the binge, and the burning question on every fan’s mind: will there be a season 3?

Without further ado let's dive in!

Why is Heels now on Netflix?

After two seasons of grappling with intense rivalries and personal drama, Heels was sadly canceled by Starz in 2023. Despite its creative strengths and a passionate fanbase, the show struggled with low viewership numbers, which ultimately couldn’t justify a third season for the network.

But don’t hang up your wrestling boots just yet -- Heels found a new home in Netflix’s streaming ring! In April 2024, Netflix acquired the rights to the series, and now, both seasons are available for fans and newcomers to stream.

This move is part of Netflix’s broader strategy to breathe new life into shows that may have slipped under the radar during their original run. By acquiring previously aired content like Heels, Netflix aims to introduce it to a wider audience and, who knows, maybe even give the series another shot at a revival.

Should you watch Heels?

Now that both seasons are streaming on Netflix, you can easily dive into Heels and binge your way through all the drama, rivalries, and high-flying wrestling action. If you're hunting for your next series to obsess over, this might just be it!

Heels has racked up plenty of praise from both critics and fans, making it a solid pick in our book -- especially now that it's so easy to stream on Netflix! The show boasts some seriously impressive ratings, with season 1 sitting pretty at 96% and season 2 holding its own at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

And if the ratings don’t convince you, the performances definitely will! Special shoutout to Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, who absolutely shine as the battling brothers, Jack and Ace Spade.

Will there be a season 3 of Heels?

After Starz pulled the plug on Heels following its second season, fans were left heartbroken. But Netflix’s recent acquisition has reignited hope for the show’s future!

While Netflix hasn’t officially greenlit a third season, there’s plenty of buzz that if the show performs well on the platform, a renewal could be on the horizon. Fans are already buzzing with excitement at the possibility of another round in the ring.

Even the stars are getting in on the speculation! Alexander Ludwig recently teased the potential for season 3 with a cheeky Instagram post, sharing a shirtless selfie with the caption:

"“Getting back into Ace Spade shape in my garage during a renovation in case we suddenly need a season 3.”"

Meanwhile, Stephen Amell has also expressed optimism about continuing the series, though he did mention that scheduling could be tricky with his new role in the Suits: L.A. spinoff. But hey, with the buzz surrounding the show’s Netflix debut, we’re crossing our fingers that the streaming giant will see the potential and give us all what we’re waiting for -- season 3!
