Netflix will be releasing a new Western series on its platform at the end of the year, and it's called American Primeval. If you want to know more about this Netflix show, keep reading because we shared all the important details announced and released about it so far.

American Primeval is an upcoming limited series that was helmed by Peter Berg from scripts written by Mark L. Smith. Berg is best known for developing the sports drama series Friday Night Lights. He also directed and executive produced the Netflix drama miniseries Painkiller. This is one of his projects under his first-look deal with Netflix that he signed back in March 2021. Additionally, Smith co-wrote the screenplays for the movies The Revenant and The Marsh King's Daughter. Berg and Smith also serve as executive producers on American Primeval with Eric Newman. Newman takes over showrunning duties as well.

Here's what Berg had to say about bringing the story of American Primeval to life via Netflix:

"We are very appreciative that Netflix is trusting us to take a big swing with American Primeval. I’m looking forward to taking viewers into the most dynamic, intense, and heart-pounding survival tale humanly possible. We are going into the belly of the beast."

Peter Berg

It's a six-episode series exploring the origin story of the American West. With everyone wanting to stake a claim on this new world, there will be bloody conflict and violent collisions of cults, religions, cultures, and communities.

The entire cast for American Primeval has been revealed. Canadian actor and model Taylor Kitsch stars in the leading role of Isaac. Netflix describes the Issac character as a "traumatized man struggling to overcome his demons and find a reason to live in this brutal and punishing world." Kitsch is best known for his previous roles in The Terminal List and Waco.

Also joining him in the cast are Jai Courtney (Virgil Cutter), Kyle Bradley Davis (Tilly), Dane DeHaan (Jacob Pratt), Betty Gilpin (Sara Rowell), Nick Hargrove (Cottrell), Derek Hinkey (Red Feather), Saura Lightfoot Leon (Abish), Preston Mota (Devin Rowell), Shawnee Pourier (Two Moons), Joe Tippett (James Wolsey), and Shea Whigham (Jim Bridger).

Actors such as Alex Fine (Gant) Bodhi Rader (Cavalry Soldier O’Malley), Dominic Bogart (Frank Cook), Tokala Black Elk (Buffalo Run), Kip Weeks (Lt. Pepper), Mikandrew (Henry), Jeremy Gauna (Tall Shadow), Efrain Villa (Tadeo), and Alex Breaux are also in the cast.

Unfortunately, an official release date has not been announced yet, but it's confirmed to be released on Netflix in late 2024. This means we could see the new series sometime between September and December. Obviously, we're hoping for a September release, but it could come out later than this. We'll definitely make sure to share the release date once it's announced.
