Look, we all love and appreciate the ability to binge our favorite shows for days, weeks, or even months at a time. Maybe when you hear “Netflix limited series,” you picture something short that ends before you’ve had a chance to develop a connection with the show.

If you’re like me, there’s a certain feeling you get when you can turn off your favorite program, knowing so much of the story is left, and you’ll have plenty more days to get comfortable with your favorite snack and turn the world off, even if it’s just temporary. Shows like Supernatural reap the benefit of this binge strategy, especially on Netflix.

Some stories, however, are so precise and written with such a graceful definiteness that there isn’t a need to turn the focus away and distract from the centerpiece. The ability to suspend a story in the precise environment, moral, or emotion over an extended period, without unnecessary fluff or distraction, is an art.

This compartmentalizes the story, allowing you to begin and finish an entire piece without pause, allowing you to truly experience something wonderful without life’s distractions getting in the way.

Greatest Netflix limited series you may have missed

Let’s explore some of the most memorable limited series on Netflix that left viewers in awe!

Maid

I want to start this list with what was potentially the most down-to-earth limited series I’ve watched on Netflix to date. Maid is an intimate, intensely emotional story of a mother trying to escape an abusive relationship and discover independence, all while routing through life’s typical aggravating humdrum.

After falling short several times trying to find work, she stumbles upon an open position for a local cleaning service. This unfolds into a heart-churning story of resilience as she battles homelessness and a difficult, judgmental, and often unhelpful system.

Margaret Qualley’s performance as Alex reveals what many mothers have gone through to escape domestic abuse and create a better life for themselves and their children. Maid will leave you with a profoundly intimate understanding and empathy for single mothers and the cost someone is willing to pay for their cherished independence.
