More like P3rfect Match, am I right?

The least surprising Netflix news of the week just broke! Perfect Match season 3 is officially happening on Netflix, according to TUDUM.

The Perfect Match season 2 finale was just released on Netflix on Friday, June 21, 2024, and it's safe to say this season was another big hit for Netflix. The series has been in and around the top of the Netflix Top 10 since the new season premiered on June 7.

After the finale, we still hadn't heard the news that Perfect Match season 3 was confirmed, but that changed within a week of the finale's release on Netflix. Ultimately, it makes a lot of sense to renew Perfect Match for season 3 on Netflix. This is the show that brings all of the stars from the Netflix Realistic Universe together for a short time.

We don't know when Perfect Match season 3 is coming to Netflix. The report didn't mention when season 3 would premiere, but it likely won't be until 2025 at the earliest. We need to see more seasons of Love is Blind, Too Hot to Handle, and more Netflix reality shows before season 3 can start filming.

Nick Lachey will return as host in Perfect Match season 3.

Why Perfect Match season 3 needs major changes

Perfect Match is a good idea for Netflix. The platform brings in people, and they become more popular than before. Fans want to check in on those people in the future, so it makes sense to bring them back in a dating or competition-style reality series.

My issue, which I discussed in my review of the season, is that this show isn't set up for anyone to actually fall in love or stay together. It's less successful than Love Island or Bachelor in Paradise. It's also not designed to be a pure competition series like The Challenge or Survivor. It's just in the middle, and it doesn't really work.

Of course, it's dramatic! That's the only thing that the series has going for it. The cast know how to keep things interesting. That twist ending and winner selection in season 2? Never saw that coming!

This show is hollow, though! There's nothing going on. If the show wants to keep viewers locked in and engaged, there needs to be some format changes in the next season.

Introducing more twists, more couples, and ramping up the drama with the couple selections could help. Right now, the "matching" is so anticlimactic. We don't see the surprise on people's faces when they're not chosen! That's the whole thing about the coupling up at the fire pit in Love Island or the rose ceremony in Bachelor in Paradise.

I hope they find a way to tweak the format in Perfect Match season 3. If not, it's going to be a long season!
