Orion and the Dark voice cast: Here's who voices who in the Netflix family movie

There's only one kid-animated movie that people should be watching this February, and it's Orion and the Dark. It's scheduled to be released on Netflix on Feb. 2, so make sure to clear your schedule for its arrival.

Described as a fantasy film, Orion and the Dark is based on the children's book of the same name by Emma Yarlett. In addition, Sean Charmatz directed the movie from a screenplay written by Charlie Kaufman, while DreamWorks Animation produced and Mikros Animation signed on to animate it.

It's about a young boy named Orion who is pretty much scared of any and everything, but what he's most scared of is the dark. So, imagine how Orion feels when the literal embodiment of his worst fear shows up in his room late at night. Whisked away on a journey across the world, Orion soon learns that the only thing to fear is fear itself.

Jacob Tremblay as Orion

Orion is an elementary school kid who is fearful of many things, but then his life is forever changed when he meets Dark. Young actor Jacob Tremblay voices the role of Orion. He was born on Oct. 5, 2006, in Vancouver, British Columbia, making him 17 years old as of January 2024 and his zodiac sign Libra. Some of his previous work was acting in the movies Room, Before I Wake, Shut In, The Book of Henry, Wonder, The Predator, Good Boys and Doctor Sleep. He also voiced the role of Blue Winslow in The Smurfs 2 and Flounder in the 2023 live-action remake The Little Mermaid.

Paul Walter Hauser as Dark

Emmy Award-winning actor Paul Walter Hauser voices the role of Dark, Orion's worst fear whom takes him around the world so that he can see that there's nothing to be fearful of at night. Hauser was born on Oct. 15, 1986, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but was raised in Saginaw. He is 37 years old as of January 2024 and his zodiac sign is Libra. In addition, he's married to a woman named Amy Elizabeth Boland and they share two sons together.

You might recognize Paul from his previous roles in the movies I, Tonya, BlacKkKlansman, Richard Jewell, Cruella, Queenpins and Old Dads. He also had roles in the TV shows Kingdom, Black Bird and The Afterparty.
