From the recent cast announcements, it's clear that season 2 will honor its origins by embarking on the Grand Line adventure, starting with the Arabasta arc and diving deep into the Baroque Works criminal network.

To jog memories, this means the Straw Hats will:

  • Reach the Grand Line
  • Encounter a giant whale
  • Meet two fighting giants
  • Search for a doctor to join their crew
  • Encounter and likely clash with the Baroque Works criminal syndicate
  • Attempt to prevent the destabilization of the Arabasta Kingdom

While the beloved manga and anime inspire these storylines, the live-action adaptation may introduce its own twists to suit the TV series' format. Unfortunately, Netflix has not released an official synopsis yet, so stay tuned for updates!

Filming for season 2 officially began in June 2024, as reported by What's On Netflix, and is expected to continue for at least 7 months until January 2025. Based on this production timeline, we anticipate One Piece season 2 to premiere on Netflix in 2025, likely towards the end of the year.

While the wait may seem lengthy, there's good news on the horizon. Rumors suggest that seasons 2 and 3 might be filmed back-to-back, potentially shortening the wait for season 3. However, Netflix has yet to confirm a renewal for the third season.

Adding to the excitement, reports indicate that Jamie Lee Curtis is being considered for the role of Doctor Kureha, with the showrunners crafting the part specifically with her in mind.
