Ratched season 2 might be dead, but star Finn Wittrock is keeping himself plenty busy! The actor, who regularly acts in Ryan Murphy projects, will soon appear in the Sam Raimi-produced horror movie Don't Move from directors Adam Schindler and Brian Netto. Variety reports that Netflix just purchased the worldwide distribution rights to the movie, which is expected to arrive on the platform "soon."

Don't Move follows a young woman who is injected with a paralytic agent by a seasoned killer while isolated with him in the forest. She must fight back and try to escape him before her nervous system completely shuts down.

Apart from Wittrock, who has appeared in shows like American Horror Story and American Crime Story, the film also stars Yellowstone actress Kelsey Asbille and Daniel Francis, who Netflix viewers might recognize from the Harlan Coben series Stay Close. Francis will also appear in the new season of Bridgerton and you might recall seeing Asbille on teen dramas like One Tree Hill and Teen Wolf.

The film's script is from Intruders duo T.J. Cimfel and David White. Directors Schindler and Netto previously worked with Raimi on his Quibi serial 50 States of Fright, on which Raimi served as an executive producer. Previously, when the film was first announced, the filmmakers released a statement expressing their excitement over working with the Evil Dead creator.

"We are beyond thrilled to make this absolute white-knuckle ride of a film with talents such as Kelsey and Finn. On top of that, we get to team with the teams at Raimi, Capstone and Hammerstone — companies operating at the top of the genre game. We could not be more excited to get to work."

Don't Move is being produced by Sam Raimi's company Raimi Productions, Alex Lebovici's Hammerstone Studios, and Christian Mercuri's Capstone Studio.

Both Netto and Schindler have shared the exciting news of Netflix acquiring their movie to their respective Instagram pages. But we still don't know the release date. Thus far, they've only teased that the movie is coming soon, so it sounds like it will be out this year at some point.

Netflix has several exciting horror projects in the works right now. Apart from Don't Move, the streamer recently acquired the rights to the buzzy Sundance movie It's Whats Inside starring Alycia Debnam-Carey and Brittany O'Grady. Additionally, Lee Daniels' exorcism film The Deliverance is expected to arrive on the platform sometime this year and a fourth Fear Street film is in the works.

With all of these different movies in development, one has to wonder if Netflix is planning to go big on its annual "Netflix & Chills" celebration this fall, especially since 2023 was sorely lacking.
