For the past few years, Netflix has helped lead the charge for traditional romantic comedies to make a rightful comeback. We have been in need of some real levity and heartwarming love stories, the kind that used to make bank at the box office. Now, we're getting some of the best rom-coms in the comfort of our own homes thanks to Netflix with titles like Nobody Wants This.

The romantic comedy series, which stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, centers on a sex and relationships podcast host who doesn't follow any form of organized religion falling head over heels for a traditional Jewish rabbi. As the title suggests, nobody seems to want them together, but their attraction and connection is bigger than the divisions between religion.

Without question, Nobody Wants This ranks as the best new comedy series of 2024. It's that good! After watching all 10 episodes of the incredibly lovable rom-coms series, you're probably looking to fill your watch list with more series just like it on Netflix. We're sharing two Netflix original romantic comedy series you have to watch and one that you might consider skipping.

Emily in Paris

Watch! Considering its popularity, it's hard to imagine that there's anyone left who hasn't watched Emily in Paris that would have an interest in doing so. But you never know! Maybe you were a skeptic who believed the negative reviews and tweets, or maybe you just didn't want to engage with the hype and popularity. However, if you like Nobody Wants This, you'd likely enjoy Emily in Paris, too.

Emily in Paris follows the misadventures of a happy-go-lucky American girl living and working abroad. She's the exact opposite of Joanne in Nobody Wants This, but ultimately, they're both career-driven women looking for love. The shows each have different tones, with Emily being more bubbly and heightened and Nobody Wants This being biting, earnest, and realistic.

When you boil it all down, if the will-they-or-won't-they relationship struggles of Joanne and Noah tugged on your heartstrings at all, you will get that same fluttery feeling from all of Emily's romantic near misses, love triangles, and right place, wrong timing.

Never Have I Ever

Watch! Joanne and Devi Vishwakumar would get a long so well. Both characters are headstrong, outspoken, and follow their gut — even when it might be giving them the wrong directions. While Nobody Wants This is a mature romantic comedy about adults and Never Have I Ever centers on teenagers, they share an essence and sense of humor that's utterly unmistakable.

Each series dives into the messy complexities of human nature, navigating growing pains, and coexisting amid cultural differences. Never Have I Ever came to an end after four seasons back in 2023, so there's a complete series at the ready to binge-watch if you somehow haven't already. Even if you have watched all 40 episodes, there's never a bad time to rewatch Never Have I Ever.

XO, Kitty

Skip! Even though XO, Kitty's designated as a "skip" in this particular instance, don't conflate that with the show's quality. It's a rom-com through and through, and a great teen rom-com at that. The series exists in the To All the Boys I've Loved Before universe as a spinoff series of the Netflix movie trilogy, this time centering on Kitty going to boarding school in South Korea.

While XO, Kitty's definitely worth watching, especially when the long-awaited second season finally arrives sometime in 2025, it's a bit different from Nobody Wants This. The teen series leans more into the romance than the comedy, and that might not be as appealing to the adult audience of Nobody Wants This. Again, it's still a wonderfully charming rom-com, though perhaps not quite for this set.
