Netflix is adding 11 new movies and shows this week (July 21, 2024)

A new week is here, and somehow, July is almost over! Who allowed that to happen? To help chase away the possible blues of the school year being much closer than you'd like (or simply the summer being over), Netflix has a bunch of new movies and shows this week. The new additions include a historical dramedy, a new season of Netflix animated series, and a new season of a very popular Netflix teen show.

First up is The Decameron! This series is coming to Netflix on Thursday, July 25, 2024. The show takes place in 1348 during the Black Death and follows a bunch of rich nobles who head to a retreat to get away from the sick and dying (sound familiar??). But what starts as a fun time soon turns into something much darker. Is it too soon for a pandemic series? Considering how much it seems like so many people are trying to sweep our own pandemic under the rug, clearly not.

The Dragon Prince and Elite season 8 coming to Netflix this week

Next up is season 6 of The Dragon Prince! The new season hits Netflix on Friday, July 26. This season will start off with the team after they successfully capture Aaravos's prison. But what are they going to do with him? And how are they going to stop his allies from coming to rescue him? Claudia needs to free Aaravos if she wants to be fully resurrected, and that's some pretty strong motivation to go up against.

More in the mood for some teen drama? Elite is back for season 8 on Friday, July 26. This will be the last season of the popular show, and as usual, the show will feature plenty of excess, sex, and of course....murder! Omar and Nadia are reuniting, and Omar is dead set (pun intended) to do right by Joel. But with graduation nearing for the students of Las Encinas, old and new friendships and relationships will be put to the test when one of them ends up dead.
