Netflix is adding 12 new movies and shows this week (April 14, 2024)

April is in full swing, and when you're not out enjoying the weather, Netflix has a few new movies and shows you can check out this week. The new additions include a sequel to a Netflix Original movie, a popular show that aired on Starz, and an anime anthology of several Grimm Brothers' fairytales.

First up this week is Black Sails seasons 1-4! The show comes to Netflix's shores starting on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The series tells the story of Captain Flint, his pirates, and the people on land they do business with and takes place 20 years before the events of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The show stars Toby Stephens, Jessica Park Kennedy, Hannah New, Zack McGowan, Luke Arnold, Toby Schmitz, and Clara Paget.

The Grimm Variations and Rebel Moon — Part Two coming to Netfix this week

Ready for some fairytales? These may not be the ones you grew up with. The Grimm Variations is headed to Netflix on Wednesday, April 17. It tells several Brothers Grimm stories, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Town Musicians of Bremen, and Pied Piper of Hamelin.

Netflix's biggest movie this week is Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver. The second part of the very long movie hits Netflix on Friday, April 19. The movie stars Charlie Hunnam, Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Cary Elwes, Michiel Huisman, and Djimon Hounsou.

In this second film, Kora, her fellow warriors, and the townspeople prepare to defend Veldt against the Realm. But before the Realm's armies arrive, they all must come to terms with their pasts and reveal what their actual motivations are for being in this fight.
