Netflix Avatar: The Last Airbender's episode length was perfect for the first season
Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series is out, so it's time for you to drop everything you're doing and go check it out. But before you start your binge session, we must share with you all the important details about the first season, like the total episode count and more.
I don't know if you know, but this action-adventure show is an adaptation of another piece of work. It's a live-action adaptation of the hit Nickelodeon animated series of the same name. It comes out over a decade after the release of the critically panned live-action movie, The Last Airbender. While it's still too early to say if it's a hit or not, things aren't looking too bad, based on the early critic reviews and positive audience response.
The first season covers the majority of the first season of the animated series. Viewers follow Aang, the young Avatar and last Airbender, as he embarks on a journey to master all four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) so that he can put a stop to the militaristic Fire Nation and save the world. Joining him are young waterbender Katara and her older warrior brother Sokka.
Gordon Cormier portrays the 12-year-old Avatar, Aang, while Kiawentiio and Ian Ousley take on the roles of Katara and Sokka. Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Ken Leung, Daniel Dae Kim, and many other talented actors join them in the cast.
How many episodes are in the Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series?
Well, we'd say just enough! There are a total of eight episodes in the first season, and a complete story was told without things feeling rushed. Netflix usually gives its shows between eight to 10 episodes in a season, so this episode count makes sense. Now, when it comes to the length of each episode, it's kind of all over the place.
We shared the titles and runtimes for all the episodes this season below:
- Episode 1: “Aang” (63 minutes)
- Episode 2: “Warriors” (48 minutes)
- Episode 3: “Omashu” (52 minutes)
- Episode 4: “Into the Dark” (55 minutes)
- Episode 5: “Spirited Away” (51 minutes)
- Episode 6: “Masks” (56 minutes)
- Episode 7: “The North” (47 minutes)
- Episode 8: “Legends” (57 minutes)
After combining all of the episode runtimes, the total amount came to 429 minutes. This means Avatar: The Last Airbender season 1 is 7 hours and 9 minutes long. So, it’s definitely possible to watch all eight episodes in one sitting if you wanted to.
