Miranda Cosgrove will visit The Wrong Paris in new Netflix romantic comedy
By Reed Gaudens
The Miranda Cosgrove romantic comedy universe on Netflix is officially happening! After making her Netflix original movie debut with rom-com Mother of the Bride, Cosgrove has set her next starring movie role on the streamer with The Wrong Paris.
In the upcoming romantic comedy, Cosgrove will play Dawn, who signs onto a reality series like The Bachelor in order to nab her chance at traveling to Paris, France. She's looking to find a way to land a "once-in-a-lifetime art opportunity," but her hopes are soon dashed when she discovers the reality show films in Paris... Texas. Because of the mix-up, Dawn wants to get thrown off the show, but sparks fly (reference!) between Dawn and the show's handsome bachelor Trey (Pierson Fodé).
The Wrong Paris will be directed by Janeen Damian, who helmed both of Lindsay Lohan's first two Netflix original movies, Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish. Cosgrove's previous Netflix hit Mother of the Bride, which also starred Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt, reached the top 10 most popular movies ranking in 92 countries, according to Deadline. It's no wonder the streamer brought the iconic iCarly star back for another romantic comedy movie!
Summer 2024 might have been dubbed "Brat Summer" or "Glen Powell Summer" by some, but if we're being honest, Miranda Cosgrove also had a bit of a moment, too. Following the release of Mother of the Bride in May, she reprised her role as Margo in Despicable Me 4, which hit theaters on July 3 and became one of the highest-grossing movies of the year.
The 30-year-old former Nickelodeon star's co-star in The Wrong Paris will be familiar to a lot of television fans. Pierson Fodé has appeared in a number of shows, including Jessie, The Bold and the Beautiful, Dynasty, Supergirl, and Based on a True Story. He also appeared in the 2022 Netflix movie The Man from Toronto, which starred Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, and Kaley Cuoco.
Oddly enough, Fodé has a credit for an episode of iCarly, his first television credit dating back to the 2012 episode "iHalfoween." However, his appearance as a character named Todd seems to have been featured in a deleted scene. Nonetheless, Fodé likely worked with Cosgrove in the episode, and The Wrong Paris brings the pair back together over a decade later as proper co-stars!
Netflix didn't include a filming update or release window along with the movie's announcement, and Deadline didn't pinpoint either item in their write-up as well. It seems like a safe bet that production on The Wrong Paris will commence sometime before the end of 2024 and the movie will be set for a release at some point in the first half of 2025. But that's merely a prediction.
