Despicable Me 4 isn't on Netflix yet (but it will be!)

Greetings, GentleMinions and Despicable Me fans! Despicable Me 4 just premiered in theaters on July 3, 2024. We know the masses are flocking to theaters over the Fourth of July weekend. Just in case you aren't planning on seeing the fourth Despicable Me movie and sixth movie franchise, we have good news!

Steve Carell is back as Gru in Chris Renaud's Despicable Me 4 alongside are stellar voice cast, including fellow returnees Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove, and Steve Coogan. The film welcomes new characters voiced by Will Ferrell, Joey King, Sofía Vergara, Stephen Colbert, and more.

In the film, Gru must stop "a new nemeis in Maxime Le Mal," played by Will Ferrell, who according to the film's synopsis.

Despicable Me 4 is coming to Netflix, but it's going to Peacock first

Well, we know that Despicable Me 4 is coming to Netflix, as all of the other Despicable Me movies have eventually made their way to Netflix. It's going to be a while, though, so buckle up if you're planning to watch Despicable Me 4 on Netflix. It probably won't be this year.

And, that's because Universal Pictures has a deal with Peacock and Netflix. Typically, Universal movies hit Peacock immediately after the theatrical run, followed by a run on Netflix four months later. That's just how it's been lately.

Usually, new Universal movies are released on Peacock between 90-120 days after they premiere. If that happens for Despicable Me 4, which it should, the new movie will be available to stream sometime in October or November.

Then, the movie spends its first four months streaming on Peacock before it hits Netflix. So, we're expecting Despicable Me 4 to be released on Netflix sometime around seven or eight months after its theatrical premiere.

For those who are good at math, you know that seven or eight months from July 2024 is February or March 2025. Depending on when the movie hits Netflix, it'll likely stay on Netflix through the end of 2025.

So, no, Despicable Me 4 will not be on Netflix this year (unless Netflix changes something!), but you can watch the movie on Peacock sometime later this fall.

Right now, you can watch the first three Despicable Me movies and the two Minions movies on Peacock before you go see Despicable Me 4 in theaters (or wait for the movie to hit Peacock).
