Everything else to know about the Mean Girls musical movie
The Mean Girls musical movie is a film adaptation of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical of the same name which was in turn adapted from the 2004 hit teen comedy flick of the same name that starred Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried, Lizzy Caplan, and others.
Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr. directed the film from a screenplay written by Tina Fey. If you weren't aware, Fey also wrote the screenplay for the 2004 film version as well as starred in it as Ms. Norbury. She reprises the role in the new musical movie.
It follows the same story as the original film with new student Cady Heron befriending the school's popular clique, "The Plastics," only to eventually find herself enemies with the clique's leader, Regina George, after she falls for her ex-boyfriend. What truly makes this movie different from the 2004 film is there are many song and dance sequences throughout. It's also modernized for the time period we're currently in.
Spider-Man: No Way Home star Angourie Rice stars in the leading role as Cady Heron while The Sex Lives of College Girls actress Reneé Rapp plays the role of Regina George. Auliʻi Cravalho (Janis), Christopher Briney (Aaron), Jaquel Spivey (Damian), Bebe Wood (Gretchen), Avantika (Karen), and others join them in the cast.
