Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine are both no stranger to Netflix. The Academy Award-winning actress has starred in two Netflix original movies, the first being the Amy Adams thriller The Woman in the Window and the second being 2023's Golden Globe-nominated hit May December.

For his part, Galitzine starred in the one-and-done Netflix original series Chambers before co-headlining the massively popular romantic drama film Purple Hearts. Now, the talented duo are teaming up for the steamy historical drama series Mary & George, but it's not available on Netflix.

How to watch Mary & George

Before the highly anticipated series makes its premiere stateside, Mary & George begins airing in the UK on Sky Atlantic on March 5 reportedly at 9 p.m. GMT/4 p.m. ET. All seven episodes of the series will be released on Tuesday, March 5. In the United States, the series will premiere one month later on Friday, April 5 on Starz.

As opposed to its drop in the United Kingdom, Mary & George will air weekly on Starz. The first episode premieres on the Starz app on April 5 at midnight, and each new episode drops at midnight on Tuesdays thereafter. On linear television, new episodes air at 9 p.m. ET/PT in the United States and one hour later in Canada.

Currently, Starz is offering a special deal on a streaming subscription that allows fans to start watching their content at $2.99 per month for the first three months, which will more than cover the seven-week run of Mary & George. Starz can also be available as an add-on to your existing Hulu or Amazon Prime Video subscriptions.

Whether you're a fan of Julianne Moore or Nicholas Galitzine or both, or you're just a fan of steamy historical dramas, you might already be on board to watch the limited series no matter what. But the plot will have you hooked. Based on the book The King's Assassin by Benjamin Woolley, the series follows the affair between George Villiers and King James I in a play for power.

For the full plot of the series, here's the full synopsis via Starz:

"Mary & George is inspired by the unbelievable true story of Mary Villiers (Julianne Moore), who moulded her beautiful and charismatic son, George (Nicholas Galitzine), to seduce King James I (Tony Curran) and become his all-powerful lover. Through outrageous scheming, the pair rose from humble beginnings to become the richest, most titled and influential players the English court had ever seen, and the King’s most trusted advisors. And with England’s place on the world stage under threat from outside forces and rioters taking to the streets to denounce the King, the stakes could not have been higher.

Prepared to stop at nothing and armed with her ruthless political steel, Mary married her way up the ranks, bribed politicians, colluded with criminals and clawed her way into the heart of the Establishment, making it her own. Mary & George is a dangerously daring historical psychodrama about an outrageous mother and son who schemed, seduced and killed to conquer the court of England and the bed of King James I."

Doesn't the series sound super intriguing? I have to admit, as a huge fan of Nicholas Galitzine, particularly from his recent work in Red, White & Royal Blue and Bottoms, I would have been watching regardless. However, the series looks genuinely fun, and who could pass up the pitch for a period drama that centers on the basis that history is sexy? See for yourself what to expect from the series in the trailer below!
