Jennifer Lopez: This Is Me... Now brings her love story to life (but the musical experience won't be on Netflix)

J.Lo's ninth studio album comes with the larger-than-life film This Is Me... Now: A Love Story. Here's how to watch!

After a full 10 years since the release after her last studio album A.K.A. in 2014, Jennifer Lopez returns with new music from a new album. And there's a bonus! She's turned her new album, This Is Me... Now, into a visual experience directed by Dave Meyers. This Is Me... Now: A Love Story will be released on Friday, Jan. 16 along with the album, but the film won't be available on Netflix.

Although Lopez was the star of The Mother, one of Netflix's biggest original movies of 2023, and houses her Halftime documentary on the streaming service, This Is Me... Now: A Love Story will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. While Netflix viewers can't experience the movie that everyone will surely be talking about (and already are talking about), there's still some J.Lo on Netflix.

Lopez released the lead single "Can't Get Enough" and its music video on Jan. 10, 2024, but it was the film's full trailer release on Jan. 17 that started the conversation in a big way. No one could have expected what J.Lo had in store for us from a visual album about her reigniting her love story with now-husband Ben Affleck, but there's action, fantasy, drama, and a whole mix of genres. More so than a music film, it looks like a big-budget cinematic experience.

Here's how Amazon Prime Video describes the film in the official synopsis:

"This Is Me…Now: A Love Story is like nothing you’ve ever seen from Jennifer Lopez. Alongside director Dave Meyers, Jennifer has created a narrative-driven cinematic odyssey, steeped in mythological storytelling and personal healing. Dropping in tandem with her first studio album in a decade, this genre-bending Amazon original showcases her journey to love through her own eyes. With fantastical costumes, breathtaking choreography, and star-studded cameos, this panorama is an introspective retrospective of Jennifer’s resilient heart."

See? Doesn't the trailer look intriguing and unlike anything we could have imagined from this project? Personally, I can't wait to check out Lopez's movie and album, and I wish it had landed at Netflix. But no matter where it would have streamed, it would have been a highly anticipated and heavily discussed movie. Before it's even released, This Is Me... Now could be in serious contention for next awards season. I mean, look at that production value!

Perhaps one of the most unexpected aspects of the trailer, other than the reveal of the stylized filmmaking, was the tease for the recognizable stars who join J.Lo in the musical spectacular. Fat Joe appears in the trailer and Derek Hough was featured in the "Can't Get Enough" music video. The list of stars at the trailer's end teases Post Malone, Keke Palmer, and Lopez's husband, Academy Award winner Ben Affleck.

Check out who's on the cast list in the trailer:

  • Jennifer Lopez
  • Fat Joe
  • Trevor Noah
  • Kim Petras
  • Post Malone
  • Keke Palmer
  • Sofía Vergara
  • Jenifer Lewis
  • Neil deGrasse Tyson
  • Sadhguru
  • Derek Hough
  • Ben Affleck

Again, don't miss This Is Me... Now: A Love Story when it begins streaming on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Feb. 16, and listen to and purchase the album on the same day. Watch Lopez in The Mother and Halftime on Netflix right now, too. She'll also star in Netflix's upcoming film Atlas.
