Emily in Paris season 4 takes Emily on a romantic date in Italy (and it's not with Gabriel or Alfie)

Looks like Gabriel and Alfie might have a bit of competition in Emily in Paris season 4 when it comes to winning Emily's heart. The new season, which was recently announced to be released in two parts in August and September, remains in production in Italy. Lily Collins was spotted on set filming a romantic Roman date, but she wasn't with either of Emily's leading men Gabriel or Alfie.

According to a report from Filmfare, photos from the Italian set of season 4 show Collins filming scenes with Eugenio Franceschini, which included walking around the city, sharing a seemingly romantic meal together, and taking a ride on a scooter Lizzie McGuire style (though the actors appeared to be replaced by stunt doubles for the scooter scene).

The photos come a few days after JustJared shared photos of Collins and Franceschini filming scenes for season 4 in Italy on May 2. Netflix hasn't made any official casting announcements about season 4, but as the set photos seem to suggest, Emily will be getting a new love interest while on her Roman holiday. But that doesn't necessarily mean her other matches have anything to worry about.

When we last left Emily in the season 3 finale, Alfie dumped her during Gabriel and Camille's wedding, which didn't end up happening. Camille called off the wedding due to Gabriel's feelings for Emily. The breakups would have paved the way for Emily and Gabriel to finally get together, but there's just one little hiccup: Camille's pregnant with Gabriel's baby.

With a baby on the way and more complicated romantic entanglements than ever, Emily in Paris season 4 could really blow Emily's whole love life wide open. Personally, I think Emily and Gabriel should end up together, since that's what the show has been building toward since day one. Not to mention, the pair have so much unexplored chemistry. It's undeniable and needs to happen!

On the other hand, Emily and Alfie still have some unfinished business to attend to in season 4. Will they get back together? That remains to be seen, but would backsliding really be the right thing to do given how Alfie feels? Emily will likely never be rid of her connection with and attraction to Gabriel, and that would probably always cause some lingering insecurity in their relationship.

However, I have to say, that I am excited to see Emily welcome a fresh start and some new possibilities on her vacation to Rome. We still don't know what takes her to Italy or what the circumstances are between her and Franceschini's character, but from the looks of it, they're going to be quite the electric pair to root for — even if it's a temporary romance on the way to Gabriel.
