Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval: When to watch Ellen's final special on Netflix

For one last time, Ellen DeGeneres will take the stage for a stand-up comedy special. When DeGeneres kicked off her Ellen's Last Stand... Up Tour, the comedian also revealed the shows would ultimately result in the final comedy special of her career. On Sept. 3, Netflix announced that Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval will be released in a matter of weeks on Sept. 24.

Of course, fans of the former talk show host and those curious about what she has to say will want to hear about the elephant in the room. DeGeneres has promised to address everything you're hoping she will address: "To answer the questions everyone is asking me: Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life."

After 19 seasons and more the 3,000 episodes, The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended in 2022 in the wake of controversy, including allegations of a toxic workplace environment from the host's staff and allegations against DeGeneres' own character. In July 2024 during a show, the comedian and host claimed that when the Netflix special premieres, she's leaving show business.

Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval release date and time

Netflix will release Ellen DeGeneres' final comedy special For Your Approval on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at midnight PT, which is 3 a.m. ET. There's no doubt that by the morning, headlines will be circulating online about what she said during the special, so if you want to see it for yourself, you will have to attempt to remain unspoiled or check it out as soon as it drops.

For Your Approval follows the Emmy winner's 2018 comedy special Relatable and will tackle a range of topics beyond "being kicked out of show business." She will discuss the obvious while also employing her signature wit to take on the everyday observational comedy that's been the centerpiece of her past specials.

"For the first time in 6 years, Ellen DeGeneres returns to the stage in her new comedy special Ellen Degeneres: For Your Approval. The final comedy special of her historic career, Ellen gets personal and reveals what she’s been doing since being 'kicked out of show business.' From the mundane world of raising chickens and parallel parking to the harsh reality of becoming a brand name celebrity, she goes deep into her stand-up roots and brings the laughs through life’s most real and absurd realities."
