What happened in Elite season 8? (SPOILERS)
SPOILER ALERT: Proceed with caution! We’re about to dive into the juicy details of Elite season 8, so if you haven’t seen the final season yet and want to avoid spoilers, it’s best to scroll down to the next section. Consider this your official warning!
Season 8 was a rollercoaster of scandal, mystery, and oh-so-many surprises. The murder of Joel, a Las Encinas student, set off a chain of drama that introduced two new troublemakers to the mix.
At first, Ivan and Dalmar are framed for Joel's murder by the Krawietz siblings, Emilia and Héctor, who are running the alumni association. As the investigation heats up, suspects like Héctor, Emilia, Eric, and Chloe come under the spotlight, but the true killer turns out to be Luis.
Emilia and Héctor Krawietz play key roles, with Héctor dragging Joel into secretive and scandalous activities that lead to Joel's death. Meanwhile, Carmen is outed as Raul's killer through a video Dalmar gives to Sara, who then passes it on to Carmen.
Isadora makes a big life change by transferring to a public school, and Eric and Chloe break up by season’s end.
Omar, facing his own battles, decides to blow the whistle on the Krawietz siblings by posting incriminating footage online. The final blow? Las Encinas is shut down, and the privileged students face their final exams in the real world, where they’re met with a hefty dose of reality.
Season 8 wraps up the series with a bang, tying up loose ends and giving us a satisfying goodbye. We’re happy with the conclusion, though we wouldn't have minded a few more seasons of the drama we love!
Why is Elite season 9 not happening?
Reports confirmed that Elite season 9 won’t be happening after Netflix decided to close the curtain on the series after its eighth season. The decision, made public in October 2023 just before season 7’s debut (via Deadline), marks the end of a beloved era. Series creator Carlos Montero, along with producer Jaime Vaca and Netflix, felt it was time to bring the show to a close on a "high note" after several successful years. Montero shared his thoughts with a hint of nostalgia:
"I say this with great regret because it’s been several incredible years in which I’ve met wonderful actors, we’ve worked with all the directors we wanted to work with and we’ve had the luxury of having Maribel [Verdú] these last two seasons."

Despite his regret, Montero reflected positively on the show's impact, emphasizing its role in launching the careers of many actors.
"Élite changed everyone’s life. There are actors who started with us and it has been their springboard to now be world stars. It is happening to this cast and it is a pride to have contributed to that – and to know that they have seen us all over the world and liked it."

While there are no plans for a spin-off at this time, the show's legacy continues, and fans can still enjoy the existing eight seasons available on Netflix
