Bridgerton season 4 finds its Sophie Beckett in Halo star Yerin Ha

We have breaking news this afternoon, and Bridgerton fans are going to absolutely love what we're about to share. The show's creative team appears to have found their leading lady for the highly anticipated Bridgerton season 4. It's Halo actress Yerin Ha!

This news comes just after learning that Jonathan Bailey would be reprising his role as Anthony Bridgerton in the fourth season. Back in July, news broke that Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) would be leading Bridgerton season 4. Of course, this immediately led to fan speculation about who would be playing Benedict's love interest, Sophie Beckett.

If you read the An Offer from a Gentleman book, you'd know that Sophie comes from a very different background than Benedict. She is the illegitimate child of an earl and one of his maids. She had a tough upbringing, being primarily raised by her evil stepmother after her father passed away. Honestly, if you haven't read the book, you definitely should. While Benedict and Sophie's love story has its ups and downs, I'd say it's one of the best love stories I've ever read.

Initially, some fans thought South African actress Masali Baduza would be taking over the Sophie role, but she was cast as Michaela Stirling instead, the gender-swap version of Michael Stirling in the books. Michaela was introduced at the end of Bridgerton season 3, and she is Francesca Bridgerton's love interest.

Back in July 2024, a casting call went out looking for an actress to play a character named "Emily" in the fourth season. However, that name was believed to be a code name, not the actual name that would be used in the show. The casting was looking for an actress of East Asian descent who would look the part of a character who is roughly between 24 and 30 years old. Well, Ha definitely fits this criteria. She is Korean and 29 years old. So, it looks like the show's creative team was casting for Sophie at that time.

Now that the role of Sophie Beckett has been filled, all the speculation can cease. Ha might not have that much acting work under her belt, but she is definitely an actress on the rise. I've watched some of her previous work, and I have to say, I was pretty impressed. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing her take on a much different role than what she's played in the past.

Some of Ha's previous work to check out besides the military science fiction series Halo are the crime drama series Troppo, the horror-thriller Sissy and the drama miniseries Bad Behaviour. We'll see her next in the upcoming sci-fi series Dune: Prophecy and the crime drama series The Survivors.
