Netflix Lifers, we have some good news to report on the upcoming Bridgerton season 4. Back in July 2024, we learned who would be leading the fourth season, and it ended up being Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). Now, we've just learned that another fan-favorite character is confirmed to be returning in the fourth season. It's none other than Anthony Bridgerton, who is played by Jonathan Bailey.
Bailey announced this news during a morning interview with Good Morning America on Aug. 16. While mainly there to talk about the historical romance miniseries that he starred in, Fellow Travelers, the Emmy-nominated actor briefly spoke about the highly anticipated Bridgerton season 4.
When asked about what Anthony will get up to in the fourth season, Bailey responded by saying that he doesn't know yet but that he's looking forward to reading the scripts. He then goes on to say that he's set out time in his work schedule so that he can reprise his role as the eldest Bridgerton son. So, there goes the confirmation, folks! We will see Jonathan Bailey return as Anthony Bridgerton in Bridgerton season 4.
We shared the GMA interview below. Bailey begins talking about returning for the fourth season of the period drama at the 2:39 mark.
Simone Ashley, who plays Anthony's wife, Kate Bridgerton, mentioned in a previous interview that she hopes to come back for season 4. While we don't have confirmation on her return just yet, we couldn't see her not coming back now that Bailey is. Only one-half of Kathony appearing in the fourth season? I think not!
In a June 2024 interview with Variety, Bridgerton season 3 showrunner Jess Brownell spoke about wanting to see Ashley and Bailey return for the fourth season. But she said that their return is dependent on several factors, with the main one being if they're able to fit it into their work schedules. Now, we know that Bailey was able to do so, but it's unclear if Ashley can. However, it looks like the only project she's currently working on is the upcoming sports film F1. Fingers crossed, she's able to make things work so that she can come back for Bridgerton season 4.
Besides Thompson and Bailey, the only other confirmed returning cast members so far are Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton. They announced that they'd be coming back to reprise their roles as Penelope and Colin Bridgerton during a press interview for Bridgerton season 3.
According to Brownell, production on Bridgerton season 4 is set to get started in the fall, and the new season won't hit Netflix until sometime in 2026. While this is unfortunate, we're just glad that we get to see a new season of the period drama.
