You know the drill by now! Every month, Netflix adds a bunch of new movies on the first day, but on the last day of the month, a bunch of movies leave Netflix and move to other streaming services. With only a few days left in the month, we shared the short list of the best movies leaving Netflix in May 2024.

If you're looking for what to watch right now, we highly recommend checking out these movies before they leave Netflix!

Let's get the list started with one of Adam McKay's best movies, The Other Guys.

The Other Guys

  • Leaving Netflix: May 31
  • Directed by Adam McKay
  • Cast: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, Lindsay Sloane, Natalie Zea, Steve Coogan, Ray Stevenson, Samuel L. Jackson, Rob Riggle, Damon Wayans Jr., Dwayne Johnson, and more

The Other Guys is one of my favorite Adam McKay and Will Ferrell team-ups. The film premiered in 2010, and it's easily one of McKay's best movies.

The Other Guys tells the story of two police officers, Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg) and Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell), who are stuck on desk duty. When they venture out to solve what seems like a simple crime, their investigation leads them on a wild goose chase to the highest levels of the New York Police Department and beyond.

The last chance to watch The Other Guys on Netflix is May 31. The movie might be back on Netflix within a few months. It's definitely in the rotation, but we won't know for sure until Netflix announces it.

The Hunger Games movies

  • Leaving Netflix: May 31
  • Directed by Francis Lawrence and Gary Ross
  • Cast: Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, and more

All four of The Hunger Games movies, based on the book series of the same name by Suzanne Collins, are leaving Netflix on May 31. The good news is there's still time for one final Hunger Games marathon before the film series leaves Netflix. Right now, the first four Hunger Games movies are on Netflix: The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part One, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part Two.

The Hunger Games tells the story of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), who volunteers for Panem's 74th Annual Hunger Games where she must fight to the death against the tributes from the other 12 districts of Panem. That's just where this story begins. What follows is a tale of adversity, triumph, failure, loss, and rebellion.

Overall, The Hunger Games has been added and removed from Netflix several times over the last year and change. We're expecting that to be the norm in the near future, so if you don't get around to it this time, you probably will be able to watch The Hunger Games again on Netflix soon. But, just in case, we highly recommend watching while you still have time!

Happy Gilmore

  • Leaving Netflix: May 31
  • Directed by Dennis Duggan
  • Cast: Adam Sandler, Carl Weathers, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, Frances Bay, and more

One of Adam Sandler's funniest movies of all time is leaving Netflix on May 31. Happy Gilmore has been on Netflix for a while, so if you haven't watched the movie in a while, now is the time.

Happy Gilmore tells the story of a failed hockey player, played by Adam Sandler, who picks up the game of golf. With the help of his mentor Chubbs (Carl Weathers), Happy tries to take down golf's biggest villain, Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald).

Netflix just announced they'll be making Happy Gilmore 2! We don't have much more information other than the fact that it's officially in the works, but it'd be great if Netflix lined up the release in 2026 with the movie's 30th anniversary.

How To Be Single

  • Leaving Netflix: May 31
  • Directed by Christian Ditter
  • Cast: Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Alison Brie, Damon Wayans Jr., Anders Holm, Nicholas Braun, Jake Lacy, Jason Mantzoukas, Leslie Mann, and more

How To Be Single is a great rom-com to watch on Netflix if you're interested in a new-ish movie with a great cast, good story, and some decent jokes and bits. It's not one of my favorite rom-coms of all time, but it's been pretty popular on Netflix lately!

The film, which is based on Liz Tuccillo's book of the same name, tells the story of Alice (Dakota Johnson), who moves to New York City. Her friend group includes several young adults who are struggling in the world of dating. The story follows Alice's romantic relationships.

You've Got Mail

  • Leaving Netflix: May 31
  • Directed by Nora Ephron
  • Cast: Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, Parker Posey, Greg Kinnear, Steve Zahn, Jean Stapleton, and more

Let's keep the rom-com train rolling with 1998's You've Got Mail. This is such an iconic movie, and it's leaving Netflix at the end of the month so you should tune in and check it out!

The film tells the story of Kathleen (Meg Ryan) and Joe (Tom Hanks), who are in charge of running several bookstores when they begin chatting online. As they start to develop a relationship, they realize that their businesses are rivals. Will they be able to survive the turmoil? You'll have to tune in to find out!

You've Got Mail might be back on Netflix in July or it might be leaving for a year or longer. We don't know at this point, so it's the perfect time to watch this movie right now.

Bullet Train

  • Leaving Netflix: June 2
  • Directed by David Leitch
  • Cast: Brad Pitt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon, Benito A. Martínez Ocasio, Sandra Bullock, and more

I'm cheating a little bit with this one! Technically, Bullet Train isn't leaving Netflix in May. Officially, the movie is leaving Netflix on June 2, which is basically the end of May, so that's why it's getting included.

Bullet Train is based on the book of the same name by Kōtarō Isaka. It tells the story of whodunnit on a high-speed train in Japan. When a hitman, Ladybug (Brad Pitt), is tasked with recovering a briefcase from the train as a mission, he stumbles into a nest of fellow assassins with differing goals. Will Ladybug escape alive? You'll have to watch to find out!

That's the list of the best movies leaving Netflix in May 2024! There's still time to watch them all, but you'll have to be quick!
